You are completely wrong on #1. Metabolism is higher after cardio exercise from the time you do it until the time you go to bed. This is supported by many, many studies, professionals and experts. Stop trying to intentionally undermine my comments. Grow up!View Thread

Rich Weil,
You are absolutely incorrect. Metabolism is raised in the hours after cardio exercise until you go to bed. This has been proven in numerous studies and is cited in many books written by fitness and health professionals. I have no clue where you're getting your information, but you are wrong.View Thread

Wow, "doctor" sahasrangshu . Thank you for the common sense things basically everybody with a brain knows. We're not even talking about that, we're talking about best time of day to exercise.
Anyone who says not to do strength-training while losing weight is an idiot. I have never heard any expert or professional tell you not to do strength-training. They all say the opposite! If you don't strength-train, you will lose muscle instead of fat and you will lose weight slower because toning muscle makes your body burn more calories every day.View Thread

Hi RBarker. Although there are weight-loss and health benefits to doing exercise any time of the day or night, the greatest benefits come from doing it in the morning. I have read this several places. The first place I read it was Bob Greene's book "Make the Connection". Bob Greene is Oprah's personal trainer.
Bob explains in the book that by exercising in the morning, you raise your metabolism for the rest of the day until you go to bed. That's a lot of extra calories burned. For example, if you exercise at 9am and go to bed at 9pm, your metabolism is higher for those 12 hours. If you exercise at 2pm and go to bed at 9pm, your metabolism is higher for 7 hours. It's higher than it would have been had you not exercise at the begining of the day. It's just an added benefit of doing it in the morning. The book explains it better, but that's the general idea. Hope this helps.View Thread
