What's Happening Now
If I were you, I'd watch for anxiety attacks and hyperventilating. They can come with an asthma attack.
Cold air does it for me, too. I read somewhere that the reason exercise triggers asthma is because you are breathing through your mouth. Since the air is colder then when you breathe through your nose, that's why the asthma is triggered by exercise. I don't know if that's true, but I found it interesting.
I can tell my asthma is worse when the allergies in the air are bad. I had asthma attacks twice this week while exercising, and that was even with taking my inhaler before I started. I could tell that I shouldn't even try to exercise today.
I didn't realize my asthma was so out of control until I talked to a nurse about how often I was using my inhaler. My doc put me on daily inhaled steroids, and that has helped A TON. 3 days after I started the steroids, I slept hard all night long. I hadn't realized how badly I had been sleeping because of the asthma. I read that during the very early hours of the morning, the levels of whatever it is that keep your lungs open, are at there very lowest. (Don't you like my technical terms and run-on sentences????) But, really, I was just amazed at how much better my sleep was.
Fortunately, lots of kids outgrow asthma. DH had it bad as a kid (he'd take neb treatments 3 times a day). He outgrew it, though, and doesn't have any problems with it now.
Please post if you have any more questions. And, please keep us updated on how Nathan is doing.
(Wow, this post ended up being long. Sorry.)View Thread
It must be so nice to have that option!View Thread
My stuff has been getting eaten too! That's why I haven't been here in so long! I just got too frustrated!View Thread
I found out the nurse has a little boy who has to carry an inhaler. So, I think she has a better understanding of our situation. For part of the conversation, we were talking more like Mom-to-Mom, and not just me to school nurse, if that makes sense.
I remember how worried/upset I was when our old nurse left. It turned out just fine, if not better. Phew!View Thread

Would you let your kids drink the stuff?View Thread
I also like your point about learning they can't always get what they want. It's hard to watch, but it is a vital life lesson for them.View Thread

If you would like advice about how to avoid or substitute for a specific type of oil in your diet, we are happy to try to help with that. Good luck.

I'm going to let her stay up late and sleep in a bit. For her, this is starting to be a big deal. This year, she is starting to see that school is more work, so she is also just looking forward to getting to miss some of it. Prior to this year, I think she would have been upset to miss any school.
I am going to drop her off at school right after her class eats lunch, so we won't really have time to go out to lunch. After I pick her up from school, I was thinking of going to Steak N Shake or McDonald's or something and letting her get a treat. I think just doing anything out of the ordinary will please her.
Is there any way Lily could plan her own party at home? One of Emily's favorite things to do is plan a party in her room and invite her sister, DH, and me. She decorates, provides (fake) refreshments, plans games with prizes (her toys), and music for dancing.
It's hard shielding them from the meanness around them. Especially when people (teachers) make it is so darn obvious.....View Thread

My mom can't have teriaki because she is very sensitive to pineapple. It makes her tongue swell...so you should probably get tested IMO.View Thread
I can see why you are scared and proud at the same time, for sure.View Thread
