That's our bad news....Our good news is....
Peanuts went from 80.4 down to 25.4!!!
I don't really see how this is possible but I am guessing because the blood tests aren't exactly the most accurate....View Thread
How do you clean the sportsband? Is it safe to throw it in the washing machine?View Thread

I must resist buying the new pink and purple one. Hmmm... Maybe I'll get lucky and she'll lose another one again.

Well, we bought new bedroom furniture and mattresses, so I have been re-arranging all the furniture in all of our bedrooms. I moved Elizabeth's box springs, and there it was! I guess the bracelet got wedged between the wall and the box springs. I know I had looked under the bed before.
Emily now has 3 bracelets, 2 of them identical. When we found it, she said that we should save it for her sister, in case she is allergic to tree nuts, too. Doesn't quite work that way, kiddo!
I wish I could have back the hours I spent looking for that darn bracelet.....View Thread
He has a peanut allergy and only goes to this place on Friday mornings, so I internally freaked out about whether the teacher really understood or remembered his allergy. But the birthday girl's parents were there so I kept quiet and sat with DS while he finished eating. After the parents left I picked up the package for the cupcakes (store-bought) and saw a picture of a peanut with a big red "no" mark across it. The teacher then turned to me and said "yup, those are safe for your boy - we make sure everything that comes in this room is". I started breathing again and thanked her - and internally thanked myself for not standing up and saying anything obnoxious before I checked it out. I almost did, but I did not want to make a scene. It was so nice to be pleasantly surprised by someone who actually seemed on the ball about allergies...especially since he is only there for a few hours a week.View Thread
It's not just me, is it? Bah Humbug, man. Bah Bah Bah.View Thread
It's called "Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day" by Jeff Hertzberg and Zoe Francois. I haven't tried anything from it yet, but I loved their first book "Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day."
I'm excited to start trying some new recipes. Homemade bread and soup is one of my favorite things about Fall.View Thread
We are doing much better here. The Zyrtec and Singulair are helping so, so much. I feel bad I didn't give them to her sooner, but I won't make that mistake again. We still can't have windows open, but we might try playing outside a bit more now. And, ballet seems to go smoothly now, too. Such a relief!View Thread
They had a sign up that they are completely nut free, and none of their ingredients were even processed near nuts.
I hope more restaurants start doing this!View Thread
The test itself was worse than any of the others. Emily got 36 pricks, and screamed for all of them. Before, they didn't seem to bother her. I don't know what the difference was this time.
EVERY.SINGLE.THING they tested for was positive. Except for pecans. I'm sure she'll end up allergic to them at some point, too.
We have new prescriptions and doses for meds. The allergist said that if it doesn't work, we are looking at allergy shots. Lovely.
I guess the one good thing is that she probably won't ever have to be skin tested again. Ha. Some good news, eh? "Your child has such a high propensity for allergies, that everything we test for will probably be positive." Gee, great.
Sorry, like I said, I'm feeling kind of sorry for myself. Not so much for myself, but for Emily. I'm sure I'll be in a better frame of mind tomorrow. You know how it is, though, when you get some not-so-good-news. Just feeling pretty bummed. I think a nice glass of wine before bed is in order for tonight.View Thread
