Maybe you can shed light on this, since I can't get any answers over on the Digestive Community. Simply, when I drink hot tea I get gassy and bloated. What in tea could produce those reactions, the acid??
I read one thing about omega6s, then I read something else that disputes what I thought I knew previously, and that is, I thought eating soy products was beneficial. I just read that soybeans, along with some other oils, are NOT great for you. I use soy milk, soybutter, and frequently eat edamame, so now, is that bad for you??? I had always thought soy products were good for you???! All this "information" becomes very confusing and discouraging.View Thread
I have recently heard that today's fruits, especially, have not the vitamin benefits, that fruits of years ago had, so to get the same benefit of "yesterday's fruits", you would need to eat more of that fruit, in other words, 3 of today's apples would equal what one apple of 30 yrs ago would be; apparently, due to the chemical alterations or chemicals used to make fruits larger, etc. Any truth to this??View Thread
What's the deal with calcium supplements now contributing to heart attacks/strokes, how much is "too much"? I would think getting 1200 mg/calcium a day would be difficult through food sources only.
Also, how much is too much with Vit D. I probably take 1400mg/day of Vit D. I hear too much of this leads to kidney stones. Again, can you get ALL you need through foods/sun only with Vit D? I am postmenopausal, so my bone health is probably at some sort of risk, being in this range. Bone density showed nothing to be too concerned with at this point.View Thread
Not sure if this is correct "community" for this question, but, question is, we grill alot in summer, but with all the depressing hoopla now about grilling carcinogens lurking, just how safe is this mode of cooking? We usually marinate our meats/fish, have used the foil method, and do not let the meat get that charbroiled effect, blackened, so to speak. And is this more prevalent with charcoal grills vs gas grills? Also, this bad effect grilling has, does that pertain to the blackened, charred part of grilling, or just the meat, as a whole, being on the grill, period??
Thanx. It's a shame something that is enjoyable, and we've been doing for YEARS, we now come to find it could kill ya, hah, pathetic!!View Thread
I'm always alittle confused when a serving says "heaping tsp" of whatever (in my case, I do the Metamucil thing at breakfast); is that teaspoon the regular eating utensil spoon, or the measuring teaspoon??View Thread
thanx for the info--if I wasn't getting enough nutrients, by skipping a lunch( and yes, I'm not THAT hungry for a sandwich type lunch, so healthful snacking is more my style!), and just doing light "snacking", what physical effects would I be noticing, that my body wasn't getting enough of something??View Thread
