For 2012, my votes go to chia as the next superfood, and even more of the local movement
What do you think will be big in 2012? What did you think was big in 2011? Any trend your happy to see go?

Sorry to hear that you are dealing with depression, but wonderful you are reaching out for help! There is a lot you can do related to diet --
Definitely check out the links that Elizabeth posted. In addition to eating lots of fruits and vegetables and limiting junk foods, I usually recommend both an omega 3 and Vitamin D supplement. Please talk to your doctor before starting, but both have major anti-depressive research behind them.
Also, not our forte in the foodie community, but can't recommend going to therapy enough!
Best,

I am a sucker for pretty pictures and healthy spins on recipes (why dont mine ever look the same?) so i browse foodgawker with the term "healthy".
If you want inspiration from real people, try Gimme Some Oven (adorable name), My New Roots , or 101 cookbooks .View Thread

Salmon and ginger, in addition to oysters, avocados and honey, are actual aphrodisiacs. These 5 foods (in addition to some others) really stimulate sex-hormone and neurotransmitter production. Find out more here .
So, did you know there was any truth to aphrodisiacs? Do you eat these foods? And what are you going to be having for dinner for V-day tomorrow?View Thread

* side note, not a date food, they always get caught in your teeth

I also love popcorn; just be wary of ingredients, a lot of them have artificial stuff. Go for plain and add your own seasonings.View Thread

When it comes to your holiday favorites, have you edited any recipes to make them a bit healthier? any success (or fail) stories? And do you serve anything that's totally non-traditional?View Thread
