Hi all, today I had my 3rd endoscopy in 5 years. Prior to today, the endoscopy had showed signs of acid reflux, but not much else. Today's endoscopy was much different than my last two:
Preliminary results:
Mild Esophagitis, Dilated esophagus, partial Schatzki ring (biopsied, not stretched), wrap intact but hiatal hernia is present
Prior to this, I had been talking alot with my GI (I work with him on research studies) and also a new surgeon, since the surgeon who did my first two nissens failed. It looks like I'll be having a third one soon, this time an open procedure.
I have a family history of digestive diseases, especially cancer of the stomach and colon. I am only 30 and want to treat aggressively now if that might be in my future. Should I pursue the open nissen procedure?View Thread
