I have been taking 40mg of Nexium daily since 2001, about 10 years. Over the last few years my memory has gotten worse and worse. And this isn't just normal aging - it's bad. So after talking to several different doctors, we did some blood tests and it turns out that I have a thiamine deficiency. Apparently this can have a major impact on your memory. Everything I read relates it back to people who drink heavily, but I do not. I don't eat the best diet in the world because I'm always traveling, so I eat out almost every day.
I've read that PPI's like Nexium can prevent Calcium and B12 from being absorbed efficiently. Is it possible that it can also prevent B1 / Thiamine from being absorbed and over time have caused me with these horrible memory problems??
If anyone has had a similar experience or information I would certainly be interested to hear it.
