Anon_6061's mission in life seems to be putting fear into the hearts of women about hysterectomies. Don't let her scare you. I am one of the vast majority of women who have had a hysterectomy and have had nothing but good results. It did cure my endometriosis and it had absolutely no negative effects on me. The pain is gone and my sex life is great and the world looks better for me. Ignore her!
I had a hysterectomy at your age and for the same reasons. I kept my ovarys but they took my cervix and uterus. I have no regrets and certainly don't miss the pain, cervix or my uterus. I started menopause at 51 and am now 58. The surgery had only positve effects on my sex life and well being.
Jessica, I want to reinforce what Gail said. I was close to your age when I had a hysterectomy for the same reasons as you are contemplating. I don't miss the pain. I have had no regrets. I would do again in a heartbeat. Lake Gail, my ovaries were healthy and are still intact. I am now 58. I hit menopause at 52 which is close to average. Don't let the scare stories concern you.
An_244584, I had similar symptoms that accompanied vaginal dryness a few years back. (I will be 57 later this year). My GYN prescribed the estrogen patches and they were not effective. I returned and she prescribed Femring for the internal dryness and Estrace twice a week for the exterior. It works great and I have no dryness problems in either area.
