I know that it's just not blood but the pieces have NEVER been this large or I wouldn't be worried about it. And it's only since I started this birth control again.View Thread

Large blood clots with heavy bleeding

Not sure what to do with this one but....Three years ago I started taking birth control, changed it last summer for a heavier birth control but I had issues with that one and it didn't lessen the bleeding anyway. So I went back to the original one and have been on it for 3 months. I'm also 21 and have been checked for HPV and all that and I'm clean. Now at least once a cycle, I get a huge blood clot. Literally. It's humongous! And I'm not sure if it's something to worry about or not? I have very heavy bleeding and I always have. I don't always have missed periods, but I have in the past. The last time I was sexually active was in September so I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant and it wasn't a miscarriage. Should I go get it checked out, or not? It's starting to worry me. Thank you!View Thread

They also said I think it was that if there's like bright red blood, that it's new blood from like polyps or something. Is that true? I feel like sometimes I do have bright red bleeding and they've never found anything, but my mom used to have fibroids or something like that soo....View Thread

Personally, I would suggest doing a pelvic exam. I got one done, and they found that I might have had HPV. Thankfully, I did NOT have it. But, if I hadn't had that done through a pap smear, who knows what could have happened. Even if you're a virgin, you need to remember that the person doing the exam has no personal opinion and will not do anything to make you uncomfortable. It's their job to make sure you're comfortable and healthy. Yes the first time was kind of awkward, but it's really not that bad. Just remember to breath!
And whenever I get one done, they talk me through the procedure so I know exactly what's going on. It really does help. And if you do get one done, remember to spread as much as you can, and relax! It really does help. I wish you luck!View Thread

Some women do experience what is like a period. If it's the same flow and timing of your regular period, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. You could just be bloated, but until you find out for sure it could be anything. Or nothing. So go check it out! And if you are, CONGRATS!

I thought, and I'm no medical doctor of course, that it was normal to not have a period when you use an IUD. I could be wrong but I don't see how it's a problem if you aren't worried about getting pregnant. You don't NEED to ovulate if you don't plan on getting pregnant? I could be wrong, but it's possible that it's different for everyone. I suggest talking to your doctor about it if it worries you.

I read in Cosmo (yes I realize that is NOT a viable source of information on health) that menstrual blood should not be bright red. Since it always seems to be brighter then it really is...how are you supposed to know? I mean, I know what the "old blood" looks like since it's a lot darker and more brownish....but on the middle days of the period, what color is good and which is bad? Is bright red a sign of "new bleeding" which is bad? And if so, should I be worried if that happens and talk to my doctor about it? I'm just curious. Thanks.View Thread

Unfortunately I have not had kids yet, or am past my child bearing years. For now the moderate dose is alright with me. I don't like being on such a high dose of estrogen hormones since cancer is pretty rampant in my family. But my doctor and I were thinking over the use of an IUD instead of the pill (Since I don't plan on having kids for at least 5 years) I have a few months till I see her again next to think about it.View Thread

Thank you for responding. Since I posted this, I did try the pill at night and it did help. But, I decided that I didn't want to keep taking that high of a dose of hormones, so I have changed to the middle dose of hormones. And the rash was cured by changing my body wash and using an anti-itch cream. Unfortunately, I will not get relief from the horrible menstrual flows, but I've lived with them for 8 years so I can live with them. I don't have to take the Zantac anymore either so I'm not sure what that was about. But now I'm doing well and I'm healed.View Thread

Higher dose birth control pills creating intestina...
I started taking a higher dose birth control pill to help relieve my monthly period...
Posted by Harleyquinn47
I started taking a higher dose birth control pill to help relieve my monthly period since it was extremely heavy. Like.....granny pads the whole time. Not attractive at all! Anyway, about that time my doctor thought I might have GERD so I was started on Zantac. I've been taking it since then, but in the past three weeks I've been nauseous, constipated, having diarrhea, and stomach pains. My doctor thought it might be my gallbladder so they did an ultrasound and a HIDA scan. Both came back clear.
I usually take my pill at about 11 am so I don't forget to take it. My mom and her coworker, both nurses, were thinking and they think that it might be my birth control causing the issues. So I'm trying to take it at night and seeing how it works. I ALSO have a rash on my stomach and shoulders, a lot like a heat rash, which I'm not sure where it's from. Could anyone help me out? Please? Should I change my birth control or should I just see if I adjust to it. Thank you!View Thread
