We hear all sorts of options for Omega 3's, oily fish, cod liver oil, krill oil, flax seed oil. For years I was taking two tablespoons of Canola oil with the belief it would lower my over all cholesterol. It did stop the creaky knee joints (don't ask me how). I really paid no mind to the fact that I had extremely low triglycerides. A few months ago I was surprised to read an article in the Washington Post that stated that Omega 3's do not lower over all cholesterol, but will lower triglycerides. That was the AH-HA moment. Now I know why mine have been in the 40-60 range for years. The price for Canola has tripled over the last several years but it's a lot cheaper than those over priced and very much hyped fish and krill oil capsules. I call Canola oil "Poor man's Omega 3". I hope not to hurt your feelings, but you need to lose at least 70 lbs. You are worried about a heart attack, but with that much extra weight, you could also be in danger of diabetes. My son had a had hard time trying to quit smoking until I handed him $20 and told him to put up the extra $30 and try hypnotism. He has never smoked again and it was an amazing cure. Everyone is different, but you should try that route. If you lose those 70 lbs, most of your physical problems will probably go away.View Thread
