We hear all sorts of options for Omega 3's, oily fish, cod liver oil, krill oil, flax seed oil. For years I was taking two tablespoons of Canola oil with the belief it would lower my over all cholesterol. It did stop the creaky knee joints (don't ask me how). I really paid no mind to the fact that I had extremely low triglycerides. A few months ago I was surprised to read an article in the Washington Post that stated that Omega 3's do not lower over all cholesterol, but will lower triglycerides. That was the AH-HA moment. Now I know why mine have been in the 40-60 range for years. The price for Canola has tripled over the last several years but it's a lot cheaper than those over priced and very much hyped fish and krill oil capsules. I call Canola oil "Poor man's Omega 3".
