Had blood work done post 8 month stent in LAD inserted. Lipids look good: Chol 140, Tri 81, HDL 74, LDL 50, CRP [1. My Lipoprotein (a) if extremely high at 156. It was high 3 months ago at 66 but elevated greatly. Any ideas? Suggestions on how to lower. My doctor says not to worry about it since general lipid profile is good? Thanks!View Thread

I am 2 days short of my six month anniversary with my stent. I Radically changed my diet (mostly vegetarian (only eat fish a couple times a week)), still in cardio rehab, which has been a life saver in so many ways!
Still dealing with a little anxiety and depression but I am proof that it does get better. If you told me six months ago that I would be where I am right now, I wouldn't have believed it.
Anyone out there dealing with this same issue my advice, listen to your body, change diet, cardio rehab, work out, yoga, meditate that program has been life saving for me.
Good luck to all of you!View Thread

DIET is key, watch out for those statin drugs that have so many side effects.
I dropped my cholesterol down from 211 to 123, and lost 20 pounds in one month on Dr. Esseylsten Diet and low dose of a statin (which I am hoping to not be taking soon). It was hard at first but I can't imagine eating any differently now.
The keys for me... diet, exercise, meditation, and yoga for stress. Listen to your body now, don't wait like I did.
Good luck to you:)View Thread

I had stent placed in LAD just before my 40th Birthday. I know exactly what little pains and aches you are feeling. I feel them to and they scare me.Don't let them get the better of you. I ended up afraid to leave my room. At this point I try to remind myself that they are related more to anxiety than any heart issues. I take xanax for occasional l relief but try to work through them. My mantra... the body believes what the mind tells it. I tell myself everyday that my heart is fine and it is doing its job. Here are a couple of resources that really helped me.
- Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn - Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease ( I have been on his diet for 2 months now. Cholesterol down from 211 to 130. Lost 20 pounds)
- Dr. Dean Ornish - Reversing Heart Disease. He has pretty much the same diet plan (not as extreme) but incorporates stress reduction, meditation, exercise.
- I listen to audio books from Louise Hay on healing and mindfulness. I meditate and practice yoga.
With every passing day those aches and pains (I even feel a burning sensation sometimes), they start to diminish and they are easier to deal with if they do appear.
I am also starting cardio rehab today, I'll let you know how it goes.
Good luck to you, keep in touch

Thank you for all your great advice! I am adding pomegranate and green tea to diet.
Just received great news from hematologist yesterday - no bone marrow issues- blood work came back perfect! That news is definitely helping with the anxiety/depression.
I was prescribed the nitro spray but only to use with a lot of pain. I don't really feel constant pain. What I feel are like twinges, flutters, and sometimes a burning sensation. Wonder if the burning is medication from stent? I mostly think they are just normal sensations from my body but I am so in tuned and scared that they give me the panic attacks.
My kids and family have been very supportive. They don't cause me any stress. I spend my days meditating, relaxing, and sleeping. I feel I'm not active enough but on the other hand my body has been through a lot these last two months and I have lead a very stressful like - my whole life-. My body needs the rest and relaxation. I am learning to put myself first for the first time in my life.
I will try the walks throughout the day, also got script for card rehab. Only stress now is that my INS. Company cancelled our policy! Hopefully that will be resolved soon

Thanks again for you words of wisdom!View Thread

I also take supplements including b complex ( niacin) and I am juicing lots of carrots and beets for blood!
Not a big fan of tea, but will try green tea!
Also called dr. About card rehab, waiting on his response

Thanks for advice!View Thread
