I am a 29 year old female, 5'4, 185 lbs. (just had a baby 10 weeks ago, still trying to lose weight), normal cholesterol, normal BP (it did elevate towards the end of my pregnancy though). I don't have insurance so I am looking for a little advice. My father died at the age of 31 of a massive heart attack. I am trying to find a copy of his death certificate because it has his actual cause of death on it. Starting at the age of 24, I have random pass out spells. The first time it happened, I was at the fair waiting in line for a ride. My sister was talking to me and all of the sudden, I couldnt hear her or anything else, my mouth starting watering alot, my throat got really tight, I had cold sweats and it felt like my heart was beating out of my chest. The next thing I know, I wake up on a stretcher with my sister on the phone with my mother saying that I was dead. Apparently, I fainted and was out for about 10-15 minutes and when EMSA got there, they couldnt find a blood pressure or a pulse. When I came to, I couldnt figure out why I was on a stretcher and it was really weird. I refused medical treatment and had to sign off on a paper stating that I was refusing. (I know, I am stubborn) It has since happened to me about every six months to a year. I actually fainted on four different occasions. I now can tell when it is coming on and if I sit down and concentrate on my breathing and convince myself nothing is wrong, I dont faint. It usually takes about 15 minutes to pass. Over the past couple of years, I have noticed that I sometimes have pains in my back that goes from one shoulder blade to another. I can be sitting still and my heart will just start racing for no reason. I guess I am wanting to know if this could possibly be my early indications of a heart attack. Do you think it is possible that I have suffered a heart attack in the past and not known it? Since I dont have insurance and not alot of money (I am a single mom), what would be the best way of going about getting this checked out? It should also be noted that my dad started having "pass out spells" when he was in his late teens. I am just very scared as I am getting closer to my dads age and it seems that I am displaying alot of similar symptoms.View Thread
