About a month and a half ago I had an EKG done and my doctor said it was okay to perscribe my to vyvanse (ADHD Medicine). I was on this drug for a week and everyday that week I noticed a pain in my chest. Then the friday that ended that week. I was having a stressful day at work, when I sat up from my chair and I felt like I was going to pass out. I did not pass out however my feet and hands started going numb. I called 911. And spent 3 hours in the ER. They did another EKG, X-ray of my chest, Blood Work, and a couple other tests. Finally I was released, where they said I had some kind of panic attack. The next two days were hell, where I still had the sensation in my chest and I thought my heart was going to stop at any moment. Finally on Monday I went to my PCP. Told him I was freaking out about my heart. He did another EKG Still all fine. So he prescribed me to Ativan and Zoloft, he also scheduled me for a stress test. The ativan helped me the most in calming me down, whenever this sensation in my chest area spiked into a pain. Sometimes it is a dull pain sometimes it is a sharp pain, sometimes it is feeling like nothing is in there.
Before the stress test I had one more episode at work where I had a shooting pain in my chest area, and it scared me to the point where I went to the ER again. They did a D Dimer blood test and put me on the EKG again. All these tests came back normal.
After the stress test which came back fine they wanted to do a follow up Nuclear stress test and an ectocardiogram. Waiting for those tests I had another episode freaking out about my heart. I was able to subdue that feeling with raking out my back yard and alcohol. To be honest I have been drinking a lot of alcohol since the start of this sensation in my chest.
After the nuclear stress test and ectocardiogram come back normal. I was pleased to hear but I still have this sensation in my chest. It is not nearly as bad as the day my hands and feet went numb but I feel like something is still very wrong here. So the other day I go to the chiropractor and he thinks it could be skeletal and muscular where I sit down almost all day at work, and do not get much exercise. And he cracks my back. It seems like it made my chest feel better until the next day. when I had another episode. I was sitting in my chair when I felt a passout like feeling, which got me thinking it was my heart on the fritz again and turned it into a full blown anxiety attack.
Mind you have Have been exercising and eating better than I have in my entire life since the start of this. No fats, soda, sugar, etc. I go swimming alot now and run. Swimming makes me feel the best. Calming and relieving this sensation around my heart.
I am still on the ativan and Zoloft which seem to be controlling the panicy feelings i get about this sensation. However the sensation in my chest which started a month and a half ago, but has deminished still has not got away.
I am at a lose here, and I know my PCP is going to say I need to speak to a phyciatrist.View Thread
