To make a long story short I recently went for female surgery procedures and during my preop found out I have some major heart problems. Had a heart catherization done Tues. and found out I have a 100% blockage in the left main artery with previous heart attack that all may have started 1 or 2 yrs ago or possibly longer. I am only 44 and diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few years ago. So what I thought was fibro related was probably heart related symptoms.
My right side looks great(odd but not unusual) and has branched to the left side supplying some blood and oxygen. So now I have to decide if I want to have bypass surgery or try and help symptoms with medication therapy I will be starting today and see the dr. in a month. I was told with what my heart has already done may not be any better than bypass surgery could help. I guess my biggest concern is if one main artery is completey blocked and the other looks great then if later down the road something happens with the right side does that mean full cardiac arrest or with the bypass would I stand a chance??? I really dont want to have this surgery but am I taking a chance id I dont? I always thought if there was a blockage a stent could be used but in my case they said it was at the beginning of the main artery where it branched off and looked like a stub. Has anyone had a complete blockage or heart bypass and can give me some input. Really Confused and Concerned. Thanks!!!!View Thread
About 4 months ago I had a catherization done that showed 100% blockage in my LAD. The cardiologist told me besides having the blockage my heart has no damadge and normal size. Happened over a period of time so my heart grew capillaries. I am currently on medication therapy and I'm having alot of problems with depression. I dont know if its the medication or just something that comes with heart disease. Without going into alot of detail, I have to go back every 6 wks until I can get on the maximum dose I can tolerate but not sure if I can tolerate any more meds. My cardiologist is trying to avoid bypass but I hate taking these meds. I'm thinking about joining a cardiac rehabilitaion program to see if that may help. Can any one give my any advice for depression. Feel like this is starting to affect my life big time. ThanksView Thread
