Hi EG,I still check in about once a month.Good to see you are still around.Let me know when you retire and can post daily and I will return to posting here and diet debate.I still blend Fuhrman with McDougall....seems to be working for me.
I post on a number of other message boards and will let those members know about this and diet debate.Let me know when you retire.
EG,It may also be that its just not possible with any diet or supplementation to protect 100%.Maybe 97.5 is as good as it gets.I take 2000 units per day and my vit D level is around 40 but I'm not totally convinced that any of that means a thing.
I will check out your posts on the McDougall forum.View Thread
I've come across many studies that conclude vit D supplementation is not the same thing as naturally high or adequate vit D levels. Some even say supplementing can be harmful at levels starting at 3000mg.I think Dr McDougall says that.I just don't know....will have to wait for more research.
Dr McDougall says that even low levels of D....as low as 10 are not really very bad and may be OK.He says the standards are way too high.Once again the data is so mixed that i have no idea what is right.
I do know that supplementing is often found not to be the same as getting someting naturally....like the difference in getting nutrients from food and vitamin/mineral supplements.View Thread
Something is wrong with your link but I'll check out your post.
Here is the real question that has yet to be answered by science.....
Does supplementating vit D and bringing up the levels conver any health benefits?
There is no consistent evidence to show this.
But when vit D levels are naturally adequate via sunshine the benefits are there....science shows this but it does not show that supplementation is of any value..at least not yet....I think it eventually will be we will have wait for the answer. The data is mixed right now.View Thread
I don't know about young but there are a number of us on a plant based diet.Low sodium and no oil is a good start.I found that GERD can be cured by eating only baked potatoes for several days....sweet potatoes and regular white potatoes...it has worked for everyone I know that has tried it.View Thread
