DMW,Heretic does not post on this site or on a low fat site....he posts on the diet debate site which is for that purpose.
I agree that debate is for the diet debate board but many who post here also post on the diet debate board and I hoped they would not let someting go unchallenged if they disagreed with it.
Over the past 4 yrs or so I have recommended the diet debate board to hundreds of people from my running group, the YMCA group, former students, friends, relatives, and associates.I want them to always get both sides of an issue and I am often asked about a particular post.As I have mentioned before I don't take a stance or make a recommendation because I have yet to reach a definite conclusion about a type of diet so I leave that to you Dolores,EG,Heretic and others .View Thread
I was not referring to this Web MD Fuhrman site.It is the diet debate site I have recommended to hundreds of people I know and associate with daily.
Since there are many who follow that site I feel responsible for recommending it to them and want to see both sides of an argument made known.
The idea that learning and discovery happens best when debating comes from Einstein and Karl Popper and their exchange of letters. Both agreed that one should seek out those who disagree with your point of view and warned of the dangers of seeking only those who agreed with you.So I disagree with DMW and EG on this point but will keep debate for the diet debate board.View Thread
Does Fuhrman allow debate on his site?....can you point out research that does not agree with his ideas and ask him to counter?
Lets keep in mind what is really important. Its not whether EG or Heretic,or Dolores is right but that a civil debate/discussion takes place and that each counters the other if he or she really believes the other poster is wrong..
To leave a statement or research study uncontested leaves the impression that you agree or don't have enough data to counter.I know this from talking to a number of people who read these messages boards frequently.
If you don't agree with something say so otherwise you leave the impression with many readers that what was posted was uncontestable or that you agree with the poster.View Thread
