So I have started on 3mg/day of Budesonide and have been on it for about two weeks now. We are trying this instead of prednisone to avoid side effects. No side effects here, but the pain from my enlarged liver and spleen has not subsided, I'm still tired all the time and itchy. Appetite is shot which is sooo unlike me lol. I never knew my extreme fatigue was due to my liver. I always just thought I didn't get enough sleep or needed to slow down or something. I just didn't understand how just about 7 years ago I could do so much and now I can do so little because I'm just too tired. It's frustrating! Sometimes I feel like my mind is going, too. I just can't handle being so tired sometimes and I start to have meltdowns :[ Now I know how my 4 year old feels when she has a tantrum from being overtired!!!! Haha.
My GI doc wonders if this is not AIH though. He is concerned that I grew up in an area where there was a nuclear accident (Simi Valley, CA). There was a partial nuclear meltdown, thought to be the worst in US history, and to my knowledge it has yet to be properly cleaned up. So he kinda wonders if this could have something to do with that, but I don't know, I would think that's kind of a long shot? Guess we will have to see how I respond to medication and how all of this goes!View Thread

Do you know what genotypes they are using and related percentage of success. Success with HCV? I have heard they are achieving 100% success, but that would be easier with genotype 2 & 3; are they conducting these trials on genotype 1?
Finally, after involvement in a blind study at Duke three years ago (in which it was noted I had ribivirn and not a placebo) and having recently completed 48 week triple drug treatment (using interferon, ribivirin and boceprivir) which failed to eradicate HCV infection; what are the chances the virus would become resistant enough to not work if it is in the upcoming two drug, non-interferon therapy?

TODAY I AM ONE MY FIRST DAY OF INCIVEK FREEDOM!
six years ago i was on just iterf. and riba. and achieved non detectable status. but was rremoved because i was deemed too depressed to continue. this time around i am taking the triple cocktail which includes the telaprevir (incivek). and i achieved virus negative status at 4 weeks. however now i am at 10 weeks and the incivek rash has turned to stage 2 and getting worse. so the decision was made to remove me from the telaprevir. so i am headed for 36 more weeks of riavirin and interf. shots. but NO MORE INCIVEK!!!! to all of you out there stil on the trip. meds hang on. the feeeling of that milestone put me on a new level of determination to beat this thing. this is my third time around for this war on my liver. and i am about to be liberated. please don't dispair, it is your life on the line, so fight for your freedom to live.View Thread

I had Sexual Relations with this Female 44 Years ago. At the time I didn't know she had Hepatitus B but she was Taking Medication at the time. My Liver Blood Tests have all been normal but I have never had a Blood Test for Hepatitus B; My Doctor has scheduled one for me.
We have met again after 44 years apart. If I have Sexual Relations (Intercourse and Oral Sex) with her again, even though she is taking the Medication, will I contract Hepatitus B?View Thread

I am overweight, but my weight is not in my midsection, it is mostly in my hips and butt. I have a chronic pain condition from a neck injury. I now have a rod from C3/4 to C 6/7 and a spinal stimulator. I do not get much exercise as just about any exercise makes the pain worse.
I have been monitored because my liver enzymes have been high over the years. I do not have hepatitis. I have been checked many times for hepatitis. I am sure my liver enzymes are high because of pain medications, With my spinal stimulator I have been able to cut the pain medications from 80 mg of oxycontin twice per day to 20 mg twice per day and still my liver enzymes are high and now I have been told I have a fatty liver.
The other medications I take are synthroid as I am hypothyroid and gabepentin for nerve pain and very occasionally a muscle relaxer when things get bad (maybe two every 6 months).
I would love to loose weight, but it is difficult to do when I cannot exercise. I do not really know what to do next, any suggestions?View Thread
I started the triple therapy in September this year. Incivik was the new one and the side effects seemed tolerable. One side effect was "anal itching". I did well until the 5th week but I did finally have to get some steroid cream for the itching.
The itching became so bad that when I used the bathroom it burned so badly I screamed. I finally quit. I also experience whole body itching and hallucinated. I was in the ER 3 times for the maddening itching. My viral load remains undetectable.
Christmas eve I was back in the ER for black stool, which could be an indicator of internal bleeding, stomach cramps and severe nausea. I decide to take myself off of the treatment, sadly but the side effects are just too much.
15 years ago I was on the Intreferon/Rebetrol combination therapy. I had some physical problems but nothing like what I I experience recently. I feel like a guinea pigView Thread
