Not going to get the new drugs as the Pegasys/ribavirin seem to be working. I don't think you can ask anyone here "too personal of a question" , heck , sometimes the folks here are the only ones who understand. Thanks for the prayers...View Thread
I have to report for a nuclear thyroid scan next month. Cant do it this month because of an MRI last weekend. Hyperactive I believe. Is this a side effect of Pegasys/ribavirin ? This came from blood tests due to previous brain tumor (benign) removal. It seems there is renewed interest in the tumor again. I wonder if I will ever be free again......View Thread
Hep C is a lonely disease. It is difficult to find anybody to talk to because everybody is so scared of it. I admire her courage as I have not been able to tell anyone except immediate family. For me , it feels like I am fighting for my life alone. Please try to understand what may have made her feel compelled to say this in church , but on the other hand , what better place?View Thread
I am in week 13. The treatments have made fatigue an issue at work but not so bad I can not function. My work is very physical and not climate controlled. I have been following doctors orders and drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy meals to keep energy for when I need it. From what I have gathered , side effects are different for everybody. I have lost 20 lbs. in the last 13 weeks, In my opinion, sometimes you will have to stand up and do what you didn't think you could do, just to keep from giving up. Good luck to you and remember to say your prayers.View Thread
I just wanted to share some news. I started week 12 and everything appears to be going well. The labs said my viral load was nearing 0 . The side effects are tolerable , with weight loss and fatigue being the worst. Have been able to keep working ,(although a bit slower and with sit down breaks). There is not a lot of communication with my doctor , he seems to be pretty busy , but I am assuming that the viral load news is good and the meds are working. If I complete the next 36 weeks and attain svr will I be finished with this ? If the virus is un-detectable can others still get it through blood-blood contact ? Many thanks to oldtiff and hcvpenut for the early support, I was pretty overwhelmed.View Thread
I was devastated to find I had hep c. My fears were that others who knew would shrink from a hug or casual contact. The ones who know are the ones who need to know. My wife fears infection but still loves me and is supportive during the tough days. There are good people out there who will love you for who you are , keep the faith and say your prayers. I am week 10 in treatment and hope to be cured. My 2'nd appt is in 4 days. It is equally important to me to keep a P.M.A. (positive mental attitude) and stay as far from painkillers as possible. Remember you are fighting for your life !View Thread
I have been running out of breath for no apparent reason. It is not related to exercise but just seems to happen. Usually during fatigue spells. Do I need to discuss this with the dr? I will see him 5-23. Haylen---it is o.k. if you want to be an O.S.U. fan , but 9 years is a long time for a victory. Have a good season !View Thread
I believe that by your earlier posts we started our tx at the same time.I am week 6. Fatigue is really a problem for me as well. I seem to lose it all in one big rush. I pass my labs o.k. The doc said it is my body and the meds working. I try to walk a mile with my wife but I am sore from arthritis most of the time. P.S. I like the name hawgfan , I am a Sooner fan. lol. Good luck. Keep moving .View Thread
I have to take I.M. testosterone 200 mg. every 10 days after damage to the pituitary. I was told they will watch my lab work closely. Be careful with drugs that may not be necessary , I was told they may make a big difference in your outcome.View Thread
I am supposed to drink 100 oz. of water daily but I am having trouble choking down that much, it has a metallic aftertaste. Is it o.k. to add some powdered gatorade or kool-aid to help with the taste? Is it o.k. to dilute orange juice or grape juice 50-50 with water? I am not even coming close to the target amount right now and the heat will be here tomorrow. Thanks for all the reply's to my (many) previous posts , this is all new to me.View Thread
