Gail, I have had bad stomach for almost three to four weeks and this has scared me. I did test negative for HIV but am very concerned. Could you please advise if at all possible if I could have also picked up Hep B or C from my exposure. If you can please respond as I am really struggling to get any information on this. I understand Hep B is 30 to 40 times more infectious. Sorry for asking this question on the HIV forum. Best RegardsView Thread
Gail I had my test yesterday HIV 1 & 2 / P24 Ag screen. The report says "Not Detected" and the doctor texted me "that the entire screening result has returned negative". This was 100 days after exposure so assume I am all clear. Thanks for all the support in what has been the most difficult time of my life. Best RegardsView Thread
You are god send and I have just about managed to calm myself to write this (with the help of a few drinks).
I am very worried for self and even more for my wife - we have a little daughter.
This is the worst nightmare ever - trust me. Why is information on HIV so vague - I never thought a protected encounter could be risky. There are a number of case studies, when you specifically search that come up with details of exposure when protected etc etc. Anyway what is done is done.
I have never strayed before and we just bought our dream house etc etc etc. This will be the first and only time. I tried to track the CSW and she has stopped working at the place. If i tell my wife - my confidante she will leave me and rightly so. Also she has a weaker immune system so I hope I haven't done the unimaginable.
Only a test can ascertain our future - I have always been religious and hope that the god is going to bless us and be on our side.
My wife has had the following: Heavy Menstrual Bleeding Fever accompanied by sore throat for two/three days cured by medication Sore in the mouth which she said was caused by a cut while eating (not sure) Dizziness and vertigo for one week accompanied by extreme fatigue
I am dying from guilt of having exposed her. I have not had any symptoms and yet she is falling sick so often. I don't know what future holds for us if both become ve - we have a small kid.
Hi Gail, Thanks - this study is quoted by some of the best names.
Another question. Would HIV Sub Type E, be considered any different to other HIV sub types. I understand 95% of heterosexual infections in Thailand are sub type E and it is much easier to transmit. Would condom use still be effective. Many thanks. Best regardsView Thread
Gail, Thanks for the prompt response - I would assume that the report is not correct/factual then. Very worried that something is wrong - especially as I feel slight tightening in my throat. I did use condom as explained but still put myself at risk and now my wife. Very worried. RgdsView Thread
Hi Gail, Can you advise on "Consistent use of condoms reduces the risk of getting or transmitting HIV by about 80%2." 2 Weller SC, Davis-Beaty K. Condom effectiveness in reducing heterosexual HIV transmission (Review). The Cochrane Collaboration. Wiley and Sons, 2011. Does this mean HIV can be transmitted even with condom use.
