If one has been infected and present some hiv-like symptoms, then the immune system can produce antibodies to fight with the virus, right? If this statement is right, can we say that as long as the symptoms presenting, antibody-based test can detect if one is hiv positive? Thanks in advance.View Thread
It has been 5 1/2 weeks since my exposure. I took another oraquick test, it is negative again! Would you please tell me do I need to take another tests in following weeks? Is the 5 1/2 weeks negative result good enough? Thanks!View Thread
Would you please help me one more time, I happen to read one of Dr. Hunter Handsfield's posts on medhelp.org. One pregnant woman got scratch by her hiv positive friend and her friend LICKed the blood. As Dr. Hunter said: "Even if here were also blood in her mouth, gum disease, etc, her own saliva would have inactivated the virus. This is one of the reasons oral sex almost never transmits HIV. "
Yes, I know BOTH of these things happening together is somewhat impossible. But the symptom are my nightmare. As the symptom remaining, my stress and anxiety contribute more to symptom. I think maybe a conclusive test can help me out there. So my question is:
I did oraquick saliva test 4 weeks after my potential exposure, it was negative. What's the percent of newly infected person to detect hiv antibody within 4 weeks by oraquick statistically? Thanks!View Thread
Thanks for your patient reply. You may know how tough I have been in the past month. Can you make this clear to me: even if my partner has blood in her mouth when she was licking my wound ( I assume it was bleeding at that time), as long as her saliva remains. There is no risk for me? Since I got traveler diarrhea during my trip to canada. And it STILL there, which makes me so anxious. Thanks again and hope to hear back from you soon!View Thread
Thanks for your reply. I have been so anxious in the past month. I am wondering if my wound is bleeding and my partner' saliva contact my bleeding wound directly (assuming she is hiv ). Is there any chance I would be infected?
Do you think I should continuing monitor my status with oraquick?
