How strange, I have also had this happened to me...and only recently after having IBS for several years and I am currently in another flare up. I have no idea what it could be...I'll stay posted. It never occurred to me that it could be related. I get the twitching around the mouth and nose area. So very strange. At least you know you're not the only one Hopefully we can figure this out!View Thread
Okay, I think I can help with this one! Our symptoms are very similar, but I get constipation instead of the diarrhea. I do get the really bad heartburn I take tums because it's just calcium..regular medicines tend to upset my stomach. I have never tried pepto, but am trying to stay away from supplements. I feel like it's more of a prevention thing. It's really important to watch what you eat and stay away from fatty and greasy foods. Since you have the constipation try eating sourdough and french breads. I suggest taking an easily digestible vitamin.. I'm looking for one myself. Soft kinds or liquid work best.
Try to go on dates Just be careful about what you eat. Stay away from things like a big steak or ranch dressing. There are a lot of sites that list "trigger foods". I suggest keeping a food journal (I know it sucks), but then maybe you can track what bothers you and what doesn't.
The mucous stuff is normal for IBS, I too worried about it when I started getting that...I thought I had cancer or something. When I get that I see it as a sign that I should stop eating so much junk! Fibromyalgia and IBS are "linked", but you probably just have IBS with fibromyalgia symptoms (like me). Good luck!
I was diagnosed with IBS when I was 17 (I am now 20), but have had symptoms since birth. They come and go and are constantly changing so it's hard to manage, but the one thing that is stable is the it is mainly IBS with constipation, not diarrhea (for that I am grateful...sometimes).
Anyway, I have problems with dairy in any form (large amounts leads me to the ER!), anything acidic, fatty, some fruits... I get heart burn from a freaking peanut butter sandwich.
I have read in some places that I need MORE fiber, like whole wheat, but in other places it says to stay away from that and eat french bread and sourdough.
I would also like to start taking a supplement, because I often feel malnourished and bloated and constipated. I'm thinking a fiber supplement but I don't want to get "addicted" to it.
Suggestions? Where do I go from here? I used to just deal with the symptoms but they're making me miserable and I feel like a fat pig from all the bloating and am embarrassed in public. I LOVE to cook, but am feeling limited on that as well. White flour? Sugar? Butter?
Any help would be great. What works for you???View Thread
