You can test your own DNA to find out the diseases you have a higher than average probability to get. I have done this through the company 23andMe, but there are other companies to choose from (e.g. Navigenics). If your Mom also tests, you can infer which diseases come from your biological father's side. If you are of European descent, most of the information on the disease predisposition will apply to you. If you are African American or Asian descent, some of the information will be less relevant because of the populations of the clinical trial participants, but it will still be valuable.
