Howdy Zaysmama! I hope you don't mind my answering, too.
This Couple's Guide to Charting Your Cycle may be helpful. It talks about temperature, mucus, cervical position and other things, and gives some tips. The 3rd page talks about placement of your cervix.
You're very welcome, Mrsmossy! Wow, that's really devoted to use a laparoscopic camera.
The Getting Pregnant Quiz tells you why knowing when you ovulate is the key to success. That's because "A sperm has the best chance of reaching and fertilizing your egg in the 2 days before ovulation and on the day of ovulation. In comparison, the probability is just 8% three days before ovulation, and 0% the day after ovulation."
So you definitely don't need to use OPKs. It takes the typical couple 4-7 months to get pregnant on their own. OPKs may be able to shorten that time it takes to get pregnant, but they are expensive, so it's really up to you what route you want to take.
It sounds like you've done all the right things by talking to your health care professionals, so I sure hope you are successful soon.
Helklo Mrsmossy and thanks for posting. Your question isn't silly at all.
I think you're just going to have to check your cervix and from repetition, find out what is "high" for you, and what is "low." Your doctor can certainly see the color of your cervix with a speculum during an exam. I'm not sure how you'd go about doing it yourself. Your doctor may be able to give you some tips and hints.
Dr. Smith answered another member about One Ovary in this previous post. The good news is that she says fertility is usually unaffected, but of course this member had one tube left.
Please talk to your doctor about your specific situation and find out if IUI or any other Assisted Reproductive Technology would work for you. If you're not already exploring this with a fertility specialist, you may want to consider getting an expert opinion. You may want to visit our Infertility Treatment community for more support.
