I haven't tried IUI with sperm abnormalities, but I have done 7 IUIs. I do not think IUI would be as successful as IVF. I only say that because with IUI they are only taking the sperm and inserting it inside you right into the cervix/uterus. While with IVF they can fertilize the egg right there and know that it is fertilized. I think you would just be wasting your money with IUI. I am currently doing my stims for IVF. I am hoping to have ER first part of June with ET first weekend of June. We have been trying for over 2 years.
As far as the people who give advice. Everyone here has had people try to give advice. They really think they are helping and you just want to say "Oh thanks for the advice, haven't thought about RELAXING!!!" THAT MUST BE MY PROBLEM!!! While it seems very rude and uncaring, you have to just let it fly off your shoulder and not let it bother you. I have been getting advice from a 19 year old who got prgrenant accidently and than doesn't really take care of her child...so I do understand where you are coming from. If it really bothers you than tell them that you appreciate the advice, but they don't understand where you are coming from. They haven't had infertility problems and just don't get it! Be honest with them and just let them know that the circumstances of why you can't get pregnant are different and you aren't just NOT getting pregnant. If you talk about it with them just tell them you want them to listen not give advice.
Hope this helps! Good luck and keep us posted!View Thread
Im Cat. Im 33 and have finished the process of ER and ET. My husband had both MESA and TESE performed at the same time of my Retrieval. This was on 5/10/13. I am currently at the end of my 2ww. This has been a long and stressful process to say the least.
I had a 3dT (3 day transfer) on 5/13/13.
2 embryos were inserted both at stage 8.
My first Luteal Bloodwork on monday 5/20/13, results were Estrogen 60.2 and progesterone 17.9
My second Luteal Bloodwork today 5/22/13, results were Estrogen 35 progesterone 31
Anticipated Blood test for pregnancy is on Friday 5/24/13.
My question is does anyone know if these numbers are good and why my estrogen dropped to half but my progesterone went up just two days later?
I am already setting myself up for failure thinking that we went thru all of this craziness and I am not pregnant. I have all the symptoms of a pregnant woman yet this 2ww is a killer and i can not seem to get the worry out of me.
Please help, ANYONE?
Thank you

I and my Dh have been ttc for about 6 years now on and off . Tried starting IVF for 2 years with blockage every time we tried to start. I was on this site and others every night. Everyone around me was getting pregnant. I researched ,I cried , I worried...and then it clicked.... If I stress my self so much I will never get pregnant, if i worry so much I will never get pregnant .
So now after 2 all barriers have clear,We started IVF and are leaving everything thing in God's hand. Just stay positive and every time will work out it due time. If its to be it shall be!

I will be starting the IVF process in April (probably in the next week or so once AF shows). I am excited yet nervous. I have been trying since November of 2010 and have had no luck. I am 37 and feeling the clock tick tocking away!
In the meantime stay busy and try not to stress to much about everything! Keep me posted.View Thread
Well, good luck and let me know how everything goes.View Thread
Sorry to hear you are not having luck in the baby dept. Did you have problems with your first?
I started by just going to my obgyn office and making an appointment with the MD there that works with infertility patients. He has been great, I go for my first IUI next week but it's a pretty long process. They will probably start by testing your husbands sperm since you are in your 40s and just rule that out before anything else.
I don't have any reproductive endo's in my area or I probably would have gone there. You typically don't need a referral to make an appointment with an RE so you might want to google if there are any close by- I will say there ends up being a lot of appointments so hopefully they aren't more than 30 minutes one way.
Good luck! JessicaView Thread

Well I had my appt with my Fertility Specialist. She statd that I had water in my Fallopian tube. I only have one tube. She will schedule me for a HSG. I am kind of scared. If there is no way to save and unblock tube they will have to remove it,And the only thing left for me to do it is IVF. Witch id to expensive. Very stressfu. Good Luck To allView Thread

Please just know that you are not alone, that your feelings are perfectly normal and okay. Going through treatment is both physically and emotionally taxing on your body. Your homones are all over the place, and as women we are emotionally tied to the physicalities of wanting to be pregnant, to go through labor and delivery, and to be a mom. I think it is hard for men to understand the emotional aspect, or maybe it's difficult for them to show their emotions. I definitely think that talking with someone is the way to go, and hopefully your husband will be on board for that too! Check with your clinic and see if they have counselors your can speak with!! Take Care!View Thread
