10 total rounds of clomid, 2 of femara, and too many days of progesterone to count, 3 IUIs, IVF1 Twins!
I found this stunning blirp over the weekend in an article I was reading:
In the meantime friends continued to get pregnant, and their gleeful news – these days emblazoned all over social media networks – is unutterably difficult to witness. You acquire a poker face when friends ask how things are going. I learned early on that when they inquire, they’re not actually that interested in the answer. If they’re fortunate enough to be a mother, it is awkward for them if you dare share the feelings of longing and inadequacy that dog you through fertility investigations. If they are staunchly child-free, then any talk that is too emotional or sentimental compels them to change the subject.
Peace to my TTC friends.
For me, I'm on CD 9, exhausted and ready for IUI on Friday and 7 days in Mexico on Saturday with my hubby.View Thread
My nurse just called back with the bloodwork, and she said I'm very pregnant, and doesn't know how my HPTs were not more definitive.
Thank you ladies for all of the support and care. None of my close friends or family have infertility problems, so I appreciate being able to communicate with you all.
To those who are still trying, don't give up, or fully believe negative HPTs. I never thought this day would come

So today is 8dp5dt for me. My husband and I finally broke down and took an at home pregnancy test. It was negative

Not giving up hope just yet, but now have doubt. We go in Monday for a blood test. I plan on testing again on Sunday.
I wanted to ask you all, what day past your transfer (for those who have done IVF) did the positive show up? Best wishes to everyone going through fertility treatments. You ladies have been a godsend, as none of my friends or family have had fertility problems that I can confide in.View Thread

Today the test was slightly darker, and went in to get blood work to confirm.....
Will know tomorrow!!!! So thrilled and scared at the same time.
Cross your fingers for me, ladies!!!View Thread

My procedure was early this morning around 8:30. Got home safe and sound but just woke up around 5:30 - was shocked I slept so long! Very sore, with a small amount of bleeding. How long was it before you all were back to your normal routine?
My transfer is Wednesday - praying it goes the way we hope
Thank you all for all of the support through this process. I have no friends or family who are going through fertility issues, so it has been wonderful to speak with you all.View Thread
I wanted to ask if anyone else developed a rash or any other odd side effects during IVF?
Two weeks ago I woke up with my hand itching. After looking at it I noticed two tiny bute looking marks, I figured it might be a small spider bite? I began my injections last Friday and since those two "bites" have turned into about 15-20 on both hands. Almost blisters, a burning rash that itches like crazy.
My general physician thinks its a "stress rash." Have been trying to take it extra easy, get lots of rest, etc.
Am I the only crazy one here?

I would like to ask you veterans of IVF cycles what it's like to do IVF. I am still relatively new to all of this, but because of our age, we are considering moving to IVF within the next couple of months, but I would really like to understand it better - from women who've actually been through it, as opposed to from hearing about it through my RE.
I am trying to make an informed decision and be prepared for what may come, in hoped that it might make it an easier 'ride', if at all possible.
My questions are:
- What was your protocol/drugs&dosage?
- How did you experience the stimulation drugs?
- What was the single worst side effect you experienced from the stimulation?
- What was/were the worst part(s) of the IVF cycle, for you, personally?
- What do you think, if you know, was/were the hardest aspect(s) of the cycle for your SO?
- Were you able to adjust the dose of the stimulation meds half way through the cycle, if needed?
- If you know, how long does one have to wait before starting an IVF cycle (that period when they put you 'on the pill'? Is it variable depending on each person?
Any answers to any of the above are truly appreciated.
Wishing all those who are still TTC all the best.View Thread

I know they are common with Menopur and vary greatly... I was up all night with sharp chest pains, tightness in my throat and extreme dry mouth.
I asked my nurse about anything I should expect, and she mentioned nothing. I just didn't know if my side effects are on the mild or moderate side, enough to call my physician bout dosage?
Have any of you had similar experiences?View Thread

My husband and I are going to start out 1st cycle of IVF using a donor egg. I've had a tubal ligation in the past, plus I'm 43, and my FSH was 22 so the donor route was the way to go. I have concieved naturally in the past but I was in my 20's. My husband is 49 and has numerous issues with his sperm count etc. We originally started back in January of this year with a small group of RE's. I had all the testing needed to start a cycle but we decided to use a larger facility due to the fact that we are paying entirely out -of -pocket and this facility has a higher success rate and more donor's to choose from. My question is could someone tell me about their experience with this? I am really scared of all the meds I will need to take esp. the few months of daily IM injections(if I'm lucky enough to get that far..)I will start with the pill then Lupron SQ then the IM injections. I am so scared about doing this cycle. My husband is nervous but happier than I am at this point.I'm also a nurse so I have heard horror stories about these meds and their s/e's. Any advice would be very much appreciated!View Thread

I am new to this board, and am hoping I can find some support and answers to our infertility issues and TTC journey.
We have tried to get pregnant for about 9 months, and we have finally decided to 'get a little help from science'. DH's SA is about normal, count is good but motility is slightly low, but still just north of 'normal'.
We tried back-to-back IUI last month, and although I had 2 follicles, one of 21 and one of almost 18, and my lining was supposedly thick enough, well, it didn't work. Although I had read that the success rate of IUI was only between 5 and 15%, and I was prepared, in the beginning of the cycle for this possibility, I think after the 2ww my hopes were way higher than they should have been, and getting a BFN result was heartbreaking and emotional.
We are now starting our second cycle, and I am on day2 of Clomid again, trying to grow those follicles - hopefully one on each side this time, that should increase the odds, right???
I was just wondering if, instead of 'wasting my 2 good follicles (if I'm lucky enough to get 2 again) on IUI, I should ask the RE if we can use them for IVF instead...
Anyway - I have talked to people and opinions vary. One friend who had twins through IVF (gosh, we would LOVE twins!! But, ssshhhhhhh) keeps telling me it's foolish of me to even try IUI, why not go straight to IVF, that IUI is a waste of money and precious time (I am 36, DH is 40).
I wanted to hear some of your opinions. Should I try a few more rounds of IUI or are the odds not even worth it?? (It sure seems that way, huh?
)I would LOVE to go straight to IVF, given my age, and given that I would love to have twins and, of course, the odds of twins are way higher with ART babies (I would def implant 2 embryos, if I had them)... But then I read that there are some 'slightly higher risks of birth defects' with IVF babies, and some potentially higher risks of certain conditions that are thought to be a cause of twin pregnancy (higher blood pressure, obesity and diabetes).
Has anyone asked their RE about this, or any other doctor? Any thoughts, input?
Thanks you in advance.View Thread

I'm taking estrace, 2 pills 2x a day, dexamethasone 1x a day, and baby asprin. They might up the estrace after next week's u/s. When my lining is ready I'll start on Progesterone in oil (PIO) 2x a day, 1cc each. And around the transfer there are a couple more meds: doxycyclene and medrol.
Has anyone else here done a FET? How does this compare?View Thread
The "best" part about it all is I found out that my doc had many other options he could have tried on me. The doc that sent me to him has taken me back. He can keep me on the met and do clomid, but that is it. He told me he sent me to this other doc expecting that he would try other options. Guess I will never know now. I just had to get this all out to people that might understand. My husband keeps saying we will figure it out, but there is nothing to figure out. We can't afford to pay out of pocket and the insurance doesn't cover anything. None of the meds work at all. My doc I went back to is doing another round of clomid but he also told me he wasn;t going to waste my time and money. He said I need to try ivf. So I guess that is it for me. I don't even know why I am doing this round of clomid. I have lurked here even though I haven't posted. I have been cheering you all on and I wish you all the best.View Thread
I am taking the medicine but the pain is not going away. My abdomen feels heavy (lower left portion) and pains. Sometimes the pain subsides but it again comes up. Specially if I stand a lot (more than 1 hour).
Can anybody help? Please advise. My Doc. says to take the pain killers and come and visit after 2 days. (that would be after 9 days of (IUI)View Thread
I wanted to ask for any feedback on what worked for you all, IVF or IUI? And how many rounds? My fingers are crossed we have good news soon, as neither my nor my husbands insurance covers fertility, so we are paying 100% out of pocket, and feel like we are going "all in" with our hopes and bets on IVF.
It's been awhile since I have posted, but its good to be back!!! Best wishes to everyone
