I wanted to ask if anyone else developed a rash or any other odd side effects during IVF?
Two weeks ago I woke up with my hand itching. After looking at it I noticed two tiny bute looking marks, I figured it might be a small spider bite? I began my injections last Friday and since those two "bites" have turned into about 15-20 on both hands. Almost blisters, a burning rash that itches like crazy.
My general physician thinks its a "stress rash." Have been trying to take it extra easy, get lots of rest, etc.
Am I the only crazy one here?

I know it will all hopefully be worth it someday! Congratulations on your twins, after your journey for their arrival!
I would love twins (am at high risk for multiples with having polycystic ovaries, and multiples running in my family).View Thread

He felt the endo and cysts was due to "retrograde menstruation."
Then went on Lupron for 4 months to shut down my system and starve out/remove any remaining endo he did not get. This past spring I did 2 more rounds of Clomid before him referring me on to the fertility specialist.
With her I did one round of Femara, then the second month Femara IUI - no luck. After discussing my situation more with her (healthy from all labsb& sonograms, no fertility coverage with my insurance), we agreed IVF gave me my best chance possible.
The typical round of IVF in total takes about 6-7 weeks. I wouldn't recommend doing it through the holidays, as the holidays themselves can be stressful enough! To give us our best possible chance I've been taking it extra easy, getting lots of sleep, etc. which would be hard towards the end of the year. Plus if your fertility office is closed at all over the holidays like mine, it's likely they will not schedule you until 2013. It's more of a 1-1.5WW after the embryo transfer. I'd say wait and start the New Year with IVF.
Keep me posted on your journey! Sorry for the long response, hope it helps!View Thread

I know they are common with Menopur and vary greatly... I was up all night with sharp chest pains, tightness in my throat and extreme dry mouth.
I asked my nurse about anything I should expect, and she mentioned nothing. I just didn't know if my side effects are on the mild or moderate side, enough to call my physician bout dosage?
Have any of you had similar experiences?View Thread

I agree with some of the other replies, definitely call and talk to your insurance company to ensure you've covered all your options.
Don't give up hope if you're not ready to, maybe giving your body, mind and emotions a little break to step back and reacces the situation and your future journey.
Sending prayers and thoughts your way.View Thread

My husband and I recently made the same decision you are trying to. I have done about 8 cycles of Clomid and Femara, a laparoscopy last August to remove endo & ovarian cysts, and once unsuccessful round of IUI. Husband has an above average SA, and supposedly my issues have been resolved. My obgyn and fertility doctor both continue to state it's not "if" but "when" we get pregnant, despite it taking longer than expected.
The one thing my fertility doctor mentioned to me that really stuck out in my mind is that IVF will take away any undiagnosed infertility issue I might have (such as problems with how the egg is released, etc.). I felt in my case it was worth to go all in with IVF, especially since the success rate is so much greater.
I am beginning my injections for IVF tomorrow, so the next few weeks should be exciting, and I'm sure stressful at times too

With both myself and my DH working for small companies, neither of us have insurance that covers anything for infertility, so we are paying 100% out of pocket.... There goes a big portion of our nest egg! It will definitely be worth it - crossing our fingers for good news.
Best wishes in making your decision. Keep me posted on how it all turns out.View Thread

I was on the birth control pill the past 3 weeks. Friday I begin 10-12 days of injections of 1/2cc of Menopur and 125 of Follistim. My doctor is watching me closely as multiples run in my family and I have polycystic ovaries (but not PCOS), and overproduce follicles.
I'm onboard with multiples, but do not want to end up like OctoMom!
None of my close friends have fertility problems, so if any of you supportive ladies can offer any insight as to what to expect through the IVF process I'd appreciate it! Especially the egg retrieval....

I wanted to ask for any feedback on what worked for you all, IVF or IUI? And how many rounds? My fingers are crossed we have good news soon, as neither my nor my husbands insurance covers fertility, so we are paying 100% out of pocket, and feel like we are going "all in" with our hopes and bets on IVF.
It's been awhile since I have posted, but its good to be back!!! Best wishes to everyone
