I have a concern about my kidney function. From what doctors have told me, my GFR is below 60, and it has dropped (it was 57, now it is 54), in the last two years. I know that I have been an avid exercise, working out five to six days a week, vigorously, and hardly drinking ANY water. I would try to drink more water, but most of the time, I wouldn't, and I would sweat a lot. Last week, I put myself on a water drinking regiment -- 2.5 cups before a work out, 2.5 during, and 2.5 cups after a workout, because I figured that my kidneys were damage due to my dehydration. Now I"ve heard that if you rehydrate your kidney function will improve. But I've also heard that drinking more water will actually make it worse. I am terrified. I don't have any symptoms, and I feel a lot better drinking the water, but I am scare of going into kidney failure. Any or insight would be helpful. Will my drinking water do me any good?
