I had the anterior approach 8 weeks ago.. that is where they DO NOT cut the muscle, but push it aside. I have known some people that had the other way and it took them so much longer to get better.
I was up walking with very little discomfort the next day.. and each day now I am improving. Also, physical therapy is usually not needed with the anterior approach. Hope this information helps you. Jo-AnnaView Thread

I have posted several times about THR ( total hip replacement ).
I had the anterior approach done with the Hana table. I feel really good after almost 8 weeks post op.
I am virtually pain free in the hip area, but I have severe pain when I first stand and try to walk, in my thigh area ( the rectus femoris muscle ).
I have tried so any different solutions.. ice, rest and exercises to strengthen the muscle, as well as to stretch it. Nothing has worked so far.
Any suggestions? Is this normal so many weeks after surgery? Thanks for the help. Jo-AnnaView Thread

I am scheduled for the Hana Hip Replacement surgery. I have read so much that I feel overwhelmed! Can you please tell me the do's and don'ts after surgery? Also, what my realistic expectations should be. Thanks for taking the time to be here for all of us. Jo-AnnaView Thread
