Thank you for this post. AVN of the hips can be devastating. This is not a process where we understand the progression. The preventative treatments are not predictable, such as unloading the hips and core decompression.
Yes please also seek a second opinion. Once you do any replacement you alter the blood supply anyway. I recommend he uses a small stem and cement for the femur to ensure stability but if you need it you need it and this risk is only theoretical in my opinion. View Thread

There is a lot of issues with hip resurfacing. I would treat cautiously as we now have a lot of metal on metal failures. Your issue is you will need a revision earlier as your other joints are stiff so get a few opinions from joint surgeons.
