That whole area of the anterior hip replacement 3 yrs ago does NOT feel normal, it is still sore and numb and I've had IT band damage from the surgery.....and Yes I can "feel" a heaviness in that thigh. I have been doing so much repair work just to get along.....good wishes....let us know how you do.
My neighbor had the posterior about 5 months before me and not the numb and sore issues I have....but she has a lot of other stuff going on which messes her up also.....View Thread
There are no guarantees unfortunately with these replacements, we all go in with HOPE and come out with what's left. Have you taken off weight...that could help a lot. I have a mess from a hip replacement 3 yrs ago.View Thread
Sadly the docs can't figure out what is going on...our bodies are all so unique and they really don't like to be cut up, parts taken out and parts put in.
We take a great chance when we elect these surgeries and I'm doing all I can to NEVER do another one...had hip done 3 yrs ago and I've been a MESS....more OA and continuing fibro.....the surgery is a major trauma to our bodies.
Acupuncture could help as well as Prolotherapy...for before and post surgeries.....I'm preparing for both these again as I've done these protocols over the years....View Thread
Hi, so sorry to hear your miserable story. I had a Smith & Nephew right hip anterior replacement in Oct 2010 and have been miserable ever since....lots of nerve damage, IT band damage down side of thigh and whole body affected by it all, knee, foot/ankle. I "thnk" the hip parts are OK but a lot of nerve damage and still sore and numbness....this is over 3 yrs...
No groin pain, and that's why I did this replacement.
I hear a lot of horror stories on these replacements and I would think there are some good outcomes.
I hope to NEVER do another replacement.....
Acupuncture and Prolotherapy can SAVE many from these surgeries and both can help after the mess too.
I had a lot of HOPE for this surgery, but that has not been my outcome. I deal with a lot of other OA and Fibro too, so it's a mess of chronic pain....good thing I'm totally retired....I did this surgery at 72. So I'm now 75 and have lost a lot of my life functions.
I feel for you and don't have a resolve....once we are cut our body is never the same and so often worse.....
I find this group very slow and non-responsive but I'm replying to you....jamView Thread
An Prolo MD here in So. Cal. starts his radio program saying: Prolo can take the surgery out of pain.
I would always look into Prolo before any of these replacements, absolutely, for sure, no doubt.....so many with so much agony from these replacements including yours truly......3+ yrs post THR and my life has changed dramatically and not for the better......View Thread
