My Story:
My mom taught me how to crochet and knit when I was in primary school. I was about 5 years old. The irony of it is that she could never get the hang of it, and never finished any of the handiwork projects she bought to make for me when I was I baby. I undid what she started when I was a teenager and made things to fit me, the then teenager!

My older cousins taught me how to make lanyards (using rex lace), which is macrame, but I hadn't heard of macrame when I was 5. I've made many lanyards in my day. When I was about 16, I got my first macrame book and I put macrame on a simple folding chair frame that I could take to the beach with me.

I've made dresses, gloves, mittens, wall hangings, hats, scarves, sweaters, plant hangers, toys, etc. (I've also made soft sculpture dolls.) I go to library and other groups where people ask me to show them how to do stitches, and I do show them.

No one would believe that I stopped knitting, crocheting and "macrameing" for years. I know a lot, but I don't know everything. So, we can all help each other.

You can post pictures of your projects, if you know how. (I don't know how yet.) You can tell us all about what you've made lately. You can ask questions if there is something you don't understand. If you know great books or patterns that we all should have in our home libraries, or equipment and materials we might want to try, tell us!

And please share your stories.
