His cancer and my lupus makes us quite the pair. There are times when we just look at each others and say "Oh forget it." to whatever needs to get done. I at least was able to make him happy with a lemon meringue pie. It's the little things.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to deal with a loved one going through cancer while the main caregiver has lupus and other autoimmune issues I would love to hear from you.
After the initial freak out from both of us we are working on trying to keep things together and brace ourselves for any bad news, which seems to be the norm nowadays.

Haven't been around for awhile - glad to see you are still here.
My question: Does lupus ever cause nodules or bumps near the knuckles or on the feet?? Or am I looking at adding yet another autoimmune disease to my growing list??? I really, don't want to have to start dealing with RA too.
Hope you have a great day and Thanks!

Take the Poll
4 years later, I have decided that the best course of action for my disease is to open a business with a male partner (whom I've worked with for years) so that I can have somewhat of control over my career.
My partner approached me with a partnership 6 months ago. I sat him down and told him what I have and how it can affect me day to day, that I have to pace myself and work off of lots of lists...the fog! I also gave him the option to think about, talk about it and back out. He said he was absolutely sure that this is the best thing to do. Anyways, since I felt that I've finally learned to manage the medications, the sleep, the pain (which is always between 7-10) and all the things that go with the disease, I accepted. However, now...in the midst of our finally opening this business, I've had a flare. The worst I've ever had. Hives, exhaustion, depression, swolleness and lots of pain. And, he is completely unsupportive and has accused me of not being available for the business. He actually has said that he questions my commitment level and told me not to come back until I am willing to put in the time.
I've been so open and honest about this. How do I get past this? I need some advice, because I have invested so much money, time and energy into this for someone to be so uncaring....what do I do?View Thread
I am looking for advice. I am a patient with lupus and I would like to swim. I know that water cleaned with chlorine can be a trigger, but can dswimming pools cleaned with different methods be a trigger as well? I have found one inside pool that is cleaned with UV lamp. Would this be safer?
Any advice is much appreciated. Thank youView Thread
My skin is extreamly sensitive right now as wellView Thread
I go by Marlene, I live in central Illinois. I was diagnosed in 1990 with Discoid with systemic involvement. I am over weight, high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, insomnia, plus. I have been trying to lose weight because both knee's are bad. The left is bone on bone.
Because of my weight, they won't do surgery. I am very worried about having knee replacement with lupus.
Any tips ,info, ideas, advise would be very much appreciated.
I have found that above all else you have to get your deep sleep.
ThanksView Thread
