hi miss emma- i for one am still up in the air as to this new bill-i lost my coverage when it was up for renewal after being diagnosed with lupus, then when i shopped around for a new carrier, the premiums were either astronomical or they wouldn't cover anything lupus related, then the economy tanked and i have no insurance at this point- as a self payer it's hard-i haven't been to my rheumy in almost 2 years, and i see a GP for bloodwork to try and stay on top of my disease-she's fine until i have a flare then it's hit or miss (like with my recent hive incident i posted about) we need the pre-existing condition clause done away with, we need tort reform too, we need insurance carriers / doctors to set pricing uniformly across the board- i'm not looking for free health care, i'm looking for FAIR health care- i work, pay taxes, try to be a good person, and i admit it's frustrating (hope i'm not whining) when i have to feed my kid macaroni for a week so i can get another visit to the doc in....chrismcgView Thread
oh yay! warm welcome to you Dr. Zelman-since i can't afford to see my rheumy as much as i'd like (no health insurance-long story...) this website is proving really useful- thanks to one and all! chrismcgView Thread
living w/ lupus since 2006-started discoid then went systemic- now i have the HIVES-its started on my thighs, and has spread around my hips and down my back-this is torture!!!! it was originally temperature sensitive, now its all the time-i work in the meat dept at a grocery store and the cold is what seemed to trigger my latest flare-unfortunately i need the job, so quitting isn't an option- i'm on my 200mg a day plaquenil, pred 10 mg every other day, and lorazapam 2mg a day- i can't tell you how many prescription and otc creams i've tried-nothing works-i am miserable ( i can't sit for long periods of time-i need a pillow, and clothes are like wearing a suit of nails) i haven't tried the desitin yet but after reading that suggestion i' WILL give it a shot-could i be building a tolerance to the plaqenil ??? it really made a difference with the discoid lesions but it seems useless now-HELP!!!View Thread
