That is a good question. An allergy to a sulfa antibiotic is usually to a specific sulfur containing compound and does not mean that you will react to hydroxychloroquine sulfate ( plaquenil). Wonder about what your life threatening rxn was and to what medication.... that might help clarify. I have not seen any information that specifically states that plaq cannot be sued in sulfa allergic patients.View Thread

you may have lipodermatosclerosis resulting from previously insufficeint veins. Have you seen a derm? maybe a skin biopsy. I am guessing that testing ruled out a problem with arteries. Really should be diagnosableView Thread

C3 and C4 are blood proteins that are involved with the immune response. Lupus is a disease that involves immune hyprereactivity and thus levels of these proteins can be low in active lupus as they are consumed. C4 can be low without C3 also being low. Levels of these proteins are just a part of the overall assessment in lupus disease activity and by itself a low C4 does not necessarily mean active disease. Low C3 and C4 tends to be present with lupus kidney disease and widespread skin disease. Improvement with treatment often correlates with normalization of C3,C4View Thread

Shout out to all those responsible for the awesome turnout for this past saturday's Lupus Walk in atlanta. It was a huge success raising 400K to support programs for those with lupus and their families. Everyone should support their local chapter with their donations or timeView Thread

given the multiplicity of symptoms would suspect Fibromyalgia but correct the low vit d since that is easy to do. The genetic marker is of no value diagnostically in relation to your symptoms and is present normally in 8% of caucasian north AmericansView Thread

There is no reason why there should be a delay due to lupus unless you were on steroids or are on steroids One would also have to wonder if there is an underlying reason for the fracture. Perhaps a bone density exam should be doneView Thread
