AND did you know that infection CAN cause sacroillitis? It CAN. It will NOT show up on an xray and you are prone to it with colitis! This may sound like tmi, but have you had unusual bowel movements before a hip attack? Do you get pain above the buttocks on either side as well as the hip? That is SI joint pain if you do. Well it very well could be. And only an MRI will SHOW IT. Not an xray.
Either push your rheumie to check for inflammatory arthritis and order an MRI or go to an orthopedic surgeon who will also order an MRI...
I wish you the BEST. We are in the same boat my friend.

My hubbie and i agree I may benefit from the surgery and are going in with THAT attitude. I did all the pre surgery stuff and got all the clearances. Lots of hoops to jump through. Noone wanted to help me when they found out I have lupus.
So I'm doing it. I'll keep you updated on how mine goes.
I did just get a huge discoid subacute cutaneous rash on the back of my neck and i'm desperately trying to get rid of it before the orth surgeon sees it, lol.
Sorry about your flare and I hope you feel better!!! Love JulieView Thread

I've heard so many causes lately. One lady swears up and down there is now proof it is caused by the herpes virus..
Idk..I still go with the old thoughts that it is somehow influenced by environment and heredity..my grandmother had undx'd lupus, inflammatory arthritis, anemia, nerve problems, and I"ve followed very closely in her footsteps. When I was dx'd in 2010 it was a very stressful time, so I see how the two things go together hand in hand personally..
Makes ya wonder and food for thought and thanks for posting it! Love Julie
ps LISA, what were the results of your MRI? My home email is jujubeee714@msn.com or write me here...not nice leaving us in such suspense, lol!View Thread

I thought all discoid rashes came with some seeping. It is NOT infected, it seeps and comes from all the layers of skin up. Here's some pics on my blog at http://jujuslupus.blogspot.com/ .
I'm on stronger than usual steroid cream now and its healing nicely. I have to be rid of it before feb 22nd when I'm scheduled for anterior cervical fusion.
Does anyone else get these?
And these circling antibodies at the rash area? I understand a little about it and was also wondering if THIS is the reason why no labs have been able to titer or direct ANA result my blood. They say unable to obtain results due to immune complex interference.
Thanks, HUGS, JulieView Thread

It happened all at once, all the compressions. Its getting worse and more painful everyday. I have orthotics now and am in PT and being referred for surgery for the compressions.
I am barely able to walk, the tightness and pain is really debilitating. I can't type for long anymore without my hand screaming in pain.
Is this vascular? Is this possibly the beginning of ankylosing spondylitis? My grandmother had it. Is this structural or vascular or both?
I don't see my rheumie till next week. My neuro also found slowing in the left brainwaves. Confirmed its seizures I've been having (bitten tongue, sores, chipped teeth) and it was likely I did have a TIA in early July.
What are appropriate tests?
Thanks, JulieView Thread

Cellcept did wonders for me. Have you tried imuran or methotrexate? They are the other two rheumies use for more severe lupus. Meloxicam is an anti-inflammatory and most of us are on it for our arthritis. Noone likes constant doses of prednisone (the drug we love to hate) and so finding a disease modifyer that helps instead of (like imuran, methotrexate and cellcept) is imperative when you have more severe disease. Are you sure your rash was from cellcept and not the lupus itself? Hope you feel better, Love JulieView Thread

Hope you feel better soon, JulieView Thread

It was long ago and you need new testing most definitely. Isn't there some kind of state insurance or medicaid you can get on, get to a doctor and get tested. Lupus is something that needs medical attention and treatment. The fog issue can be helped with medications.
You really need to do this. Some states you can apply online. You can also go in to your local social security office and ask for help applying for disability. You can do it online at www.ssa.gov. as well.
What's worse? Having your children put you in a nursing home or applying for disability? You must qualify for some help.
In order for a fair assessment you need to see a physician asap.
HUGS, feel better, JulieView Thread
