Tip on methotrexate & side effects (including hair loss) - ask your doctor if you can space out the pills in a day - I take 2 with breakfast, 2 with lunch, 2 with dinner.View Thread

My Mom had terrible Scleroderma with Crest Syndrome (another auto-immune) with lots of allergies, and liver and other organ failures which made pain medication challenging, but the pain specialist was able to help, so I would highly recommend following your doctor's suggestion.
Also, if you haven't tried it, you might look into change of diet. Changing to gluten-free has helped me, and many others report that significantly reducing sugar also helps. I know this can add more stress, so you might research and try the diet changes if/when you have a little more time and after the pain specialist. The most important thing for me is keeping a diary to record everything and talking it over with my doctors (both rheumatologist and family physician).View Thread
