Does anyone have trouble with horizontal nail bulges/ridges? These go from side to side - not nail bed to tip. I just noticed both my thumbs have this large bulge under them...weird. Didn't know if it was a lupus kind of thing. It's not a line but like a hump. You can see and feel it.
Sorry you are in so much pain! Is it pain on breathing or do you have a lot of coughing with it ? -- if so, you really need to see a physician to rule out pneumonia or pleurisy and to be treated if it is.
If it's just pain in the ribs and not associated with coughing and so on, you could have costachondritis - which is a inflammation of the of the cartilage around the ribs...
Either way, it just plain sucks and I hope you get some relief soon. I've had both in the past and they are no fun!!
Have your cousin contact the Lupus Foundation of America as they have local chapters/meetings in all areas. I have a lupus friend who lives in Florida and I know she has attended meetings where she lives.
Also, have her come here to ask questions and just whine if she needs to. We all have been in her shoes.
Plans for the weekend? Why, deliver wedding cakes , of course!! I SO want this wedding season to be over with!!
My real desire for it to end is my carpal tunnel issue has reared it's ugly head and I have been up every night for the past week in excruiciating pain with my arm packed in ice. I've tried wearing the splint thing - seems to make it worse then helps. The vicodin doesn't help....I have a appt. with my doc. on Monday morning to see what might need to be done. I know resting it will help but I have 30 or more layers of cake that need iced this next week, so resting is not a option!
I'm late for the "Monday" check-in (as usual). There just isn't enough hours in the day for me to get my work done and not enough energy if I had the time. Between my cake business, my house and my family I have no time to rest, which we all know with lupus, it will come back to bite me in the rear!
I had blood work this week for my appt with the rheumy next week. Had two teeth cut out this past week ( thank you Sjogrens!) and we are still watching the lump in my jaw/cheek... The ENT surgeon said it was too close to a facial nerve and he didn't want to biopsy it unless he absolutely had too, so we are watching to see if it grows.
I still can't seem to find time/energy to exercise and I so need to lose weight! So frustrating!!
Well, guess I whined enough for one evening! Hope everyone has a pain free day tomorrow!!
Sounds like you have a lot of things going on. Lupus effects people in different ways (one reason it can be difficult to Dx) but several of your symptoms don't sound like the classic lupus symptoms. Some common lupus symptoms that most of us have are widespread joint pain/stiffness, sun sensitive, butterfly rash, fatigue and certain abnormal labs.
When do you see your doctor again for lab results? What labs were run?
Try to hang in there - I know it can be hard - till you get some answers.
