My mom, age 78, was diagnosed with discoid lupus at the U of MI over 12 years ago. This type seems to attack her skin, mainly on her head, face, neck, shoulders, chest and neck. Her skin is red, with soars that bleed with almost non-stop itching. She has lost all of her hair and now eyes seem to be effected. The last 2 years this disease has just gotten so much worse. Mom has been allergic to or gets extremely sick with everything that treats this. We have found nothing that has helped with the itching. Her skins is so bad that it looks like she has been burned. Sometime the soars get infected but antibiotics seem to help with that. I guess I just was wondering if there is anyone else out there who is facing this type of lupus and how much worse can this get? Mom has suffered so much with this and has given up all hope on treatments. Yes we have put this all in God's hands but He hasn't chosen to cure her from this horrible disease yet. Thanks for reading my post.View Thread
