I refuse to use hormones to conquer my hot flashes but some days I swear I will do anything... menopause seems so unfair. ah well. My mom told me to avoid salt. I am not very good at avoiding salt, but I do notice that added salt seems to bring on flashing. Night sweats are the worst for me and I wildly switch from hot to cold. My hubby even says "are you boiling or freezing now?" My bed has a built in pillow top which is comfortable but it holds in heat so when I start to "flash" I feel like I am in an oven. Even flipping my pillow doesn't help and I sleep right under a ceiling fan. What does seem to help is the glass of ice water to sip on at night. I keep it in an insulated (Tervis tumbler) on my night stand. A sip during the boiling seems to help bring my temp back to normal.View Thread
