Just wondering how you are doing? I have a similar bleeding pattern to yours and I am almost 53. I have had periods ranging from 46 days between to only 14 and periods lasting from 5 days to 3 weeks but not heavy. Can't wait for the end as this is all new territory!View Thread
I am almost 53 and having irregular periods. Some come after 46 days, some after only 20, some last for only 5 days and some in excess of 2 weeks. The latest in the saga is a period that started only 14 days after the previous one but it is very light -almost tarry and dark with minimal flow. Would this once again be lack of progesterone? I have all the other menopause symptoms going on- night sweats etc.
I am hoping to last without HRT so just wondering if anyone else has this pattern of bleeding and if the expert could advise.View Thread
I am 52 and a half and have had irregular cycles for just over two years. 20-44 days between periods with duration of 4 to 16 days of bleeding. short bleed- short wait long bleed- long wait.
This month I am still bleeding but very lightly on day 16. I know that I was advised here that this is normal in peri, and that i could ask for progesterone to regulate the cycles especially the prolonged bleeding. I was wondering if any natural remedies would have the same affect as I don't really want to go down the hormonal route if I can avoid it.
Finally is there any risk of endometrial cancer being as I do bleed for long periods when my cycle is delayed?- or is this just a very unlikely possibility as I have no risk factors such as obesity or diabetes.
I just want to deal with this naturally, but get just a bit freaked out mentally on day 16 of my period after a forty day wait that used to be like clockwork! Is it likely that I may bleed for another week then maybe skip a period altogether, and how many days is it normal to bleed in this peri time- is mine within normal expected parameters?View Thread
I'm 52. So far no periods missed, but cycle changed first from 35 to 30 days and then more recently from 21 days some months to 44 others.
My question is that when I go 44 days without bleeding, the period before often drags on for a couple of weeks but is very light. Then after the short gaps of 21 days I might only bleed for 4 days. This seems to be my pattern, but I wonder if the 14 day bleeding is what would be considered as normal or if it is a cause for concern as it is always followed by a longer gap?
Going on from this nipple sensitivity I am also having some problems with individual areas of the nipple surface protruding more than others during these surges.
I have always had quite an uneven nipple surface since feeding four children.
Sometimes during a surge of hormones what looks like a little tiny swelling, like a clear bubble, will appear on the top of an individual nipple bud. This can get irritated by clothing and will affect both sides at different times, and on occasions will change from a clear little bubble to red to black- like a tiny blood blister in the end, and then will heal as the surge dies down and the nipple returns to normal.
It feels when up like a little bud on the tip of the nipple and it stands higher than the remaining structures around it and is only sore when clothing brushes against it. I have tried not sleeping on my tummy as I think this makes this worse and wearing loose clothing. It affects both sides at different times and in different places on the nipple, but always during a period when the breast swells. Luckily only one at a time though and only every few months!
I have no lumps or other breast rashes or symptoms. The skin on the nipple looks normal and healthy and there is no dryness or eczema.
I wonder if any ladies have experienced this as I had a similar thing when pregnant and breastfeeding. Also can the expert advise about this.
I am 52 now and still having cycles but they are getting slightly more irregular- some 44 says and some 22 days. I am also experiencing hot flushes at night.
I also have CFS/ME and as this affects my sleep. I will often crash out in one position at night for hours, and of course this can be on my tummy which doesn't help with the breast issues!View Thread
I have the same problem and am 52. I tried the aromatherapy oils recommended by another contributor and have found some relief. I also found the symptoms eased slightly by adding two 500mg flax oil tablets per day, and also adding a teaspoon of crushed flax seeds onto my cereal in the morning.
The starflower oil helps too, as does wearing the right size bra which is really tricky as I seem to be different sizes on different days. I have also sought out flimsy nightwear that is slightly too big as the nipples were rubbing on fabric during the night. This has helped too.
I have read that when we get into the last stage where periods are being missed that this should improve. I wonder if the expert could advise if this is the case.View Thread
