It has now been about 11 months since my last period- I am 54. During the last year I have still have episodes when I feel like I am trying to ovulate, and will have characteristic stringy clear egg white type mucus that was always part of my cycle for a few days intermittently.
Is this normal? No bleeding at all but just still feel as if I have periods of high oestrogen which I assume is stimulating the cervical mucus. Anyone else have this?
When should I expect things to dry up completely and should I be happy that I have not yet experienced atrophy or dryness? Do we often have more secretions before less in menopause?View Thread
Just wondering how you are doing? I have a similar bleeding pattern to yours and I am almost 53. I have had periods ranging from 46 days between to only 14 and periods lasting from 5 days to 3 weeks but not heavy. Can't wait for the end as this is all new territory!View Thread
I am almost 53 and having irregular periods. Some come after 46 days, some after only 20, some last for only 5 days and some in excess of 2 weeks. The latest in the saga is a period that started only 14 days after the previous one but it is very light -almost tarry and dark with minimal flow. Would this once again be lack of progesterone? I have all the other menopause symptoms going on- night sweats etc.
I am hoping to last without HRT so just wondering if anyone else has this pattern of bleeding and if the expert could advise.View Thread
I am 52 and a half and have had irregular cycles for just over two years. 20-44 days between periods with duration of 4 to 16 days of bleeding. short bleed- short wait long bleed- long wait.
This month I am still bleeding but very lightly on day 16. I know that I was advised here that this is normal in peri, and that i could ask for progesterone to regulate the cycles especially the prolonged bleeding. I was wondering if any natural remedies would have the same affect as I don't really want to go down the hormonal route if I can avoid it.
Finally is there any risk of endometrial cancer being as I do bleed for long periods when my cycle is delayed?- or is this just a very unlikely possibility as I have no risk factors such as obesity or diabetes.
I just want to deal with this naturally, but get just a bit freaked out mentally on day 16 of my period after a forty day wait that used to be like clockwork! Is it likely that I may bleed for another week then maybe skip a period altogether, and how many days is it normal to bleed in this peri time- is mine within normal expected parameters?View Thread
I'm 52. So far no periods missed, but cycle changed first from 35 to 30 days and then more recently from 21 days some months to 44 others.
My question is that when I go 44 days without bleeding, the period before often drags on for a couple of weeks but is very light. Then after the short gaps of 21 days I might only bleed for 4 days. This seems to be my pattern, but I wonder if the 14 day bleeding is what would be considered as normal or if it is a cause for concern as it is always followed by a longer gap?
