I am 51 and had complete hysterectomy 2 1/2 years ago. I had prolapse. I was on just estrogen and began having anxiety and adrenaline surges. Very uncomfortable! So went on continuous dose of estrogen progesterone therapy in the form of birthcontrol pill. Found out that I have a hereditary clotting disorder so decided to go on bio identical hormone therapy. I have only been on it a week. Any suggestions? How long does it take to get the dosage right and is this a safer route to go? I am still hot at night and have a low grade headache all day! I am taking testosterone and DHEA cream in the morning for low libido and energy and the estrogen progesterone combination at bedtime. Thoughts? I really need some guidance . My Dr. is great but I just need to understand #1 is it safe for me to continue, #2 is this the best route to take, and #3 how long does it generally take to get the dosage right?View Thread

This is week two of the cream hormone applications . I am doing very well. I am sleeping better and have more energy than before while on the "pill". I don't know if it is the progestin, estrogen, or the DHEA and testosterone but, so far so good. The headaches have almost totally disappeared. I appreciate you thoughts. Yes, the ovaries were definitely removed.View Thread

Dr. Mary, I am 51 now. I had my complete hysterectomy two and half years ago. My ovaries were taken at that time. I was prescribed the progesterone due to the adrenaline rushes I was having. I could be riding in a car and if a car passed or put on their brakes in front of me I would have pain in my arms, finger and in extreme moments my chest would tighten. Very uncomfortable. I was put on a standard low dose birth control pill. I was on estrogen only before the birth control. I have been on this bioidentical treatment for over a week now and the last three days and nights have been good. My Dr. said I am on a very low dose of both estrogen and progesterone. The blood disorder I have is the laiden factor 5. Heterozygous . I know it presents very low risk in this form but I am trying to be proactive. I am not obese, nor do I smoke. I do exercise regularly. I found out about the factor 5 this year which is why I wanted to switch to a low dose as well as the Bioidentical replacement. My daughters are on progesterone ( mini pill) only. They both just had babies. One knows for sure she has the same blood issue, the other will find out at her next appointment. I appreciate your thoughts. Thank you. I am told the progesterone that I am getting at night is helping me sleep! I am all for sleep.

No, I found out my dad had this clotting issue and since I was on HRT I decided I should be informed knowing the risks of estrogen and blood clots. I changed to the cream BHRT rubbed into my fore arms and thighs, a little over a week ago. The last 3 days have been good. I even slept good last night. I am hoping that this is the sign of good days ahead. I have had good energy for the last three days as well . I haven't had problems with heat fluctuations either. I think this may work for me. So far no depression. Check back with me in a couple of weeks and I'll let you know how it is going. Good luck to you.View Thread
