Just found this site. I have very similar issues. I am 53, and just went off BCP about 9 months ago. I went in for my regular check up (I had been off BCP 2 months), and repoted to my doc that I was having LOTS of cervical mucus and sore breasts just like before when I was trying to get pregnant. At any rate, she said she didn't know what was up with the cervical mucus but did an FSH test that came back "consistent with menopause". I was offered HRT, but did not start them, because the hot flashes weren't that bad, and I really felt like my body wasn't done. I continued to have cyclical cervical mucus (boatloads of it), follwed by sore nipples, and then for a couple of months, slight bleeding. I went back to my GYN in Nov. to discuss. She said it sounded like I was perimenopausal. My FSH level was a 28 back in June. She also did an endometrial biospy to be sure nothing was wrong. I was given a prescription to go back on BCP to"regulate my hormones". The biopsy was fine, mamogram is fine. I have had an occasional day of spotting, but have not gone back on BCP. Not sure I should, given my age, and I'm not that miserable. However, my GYN had also explained that it's good to have a period to get rid of all the build up in the uterus--which if not can lead to cancer later on...so here are my questions: 1. Am I still peri? 2. Should I go back on BCP? 3. Anyone ever tie in cervical mucus with the sore nips?View Thread
