I cannot tell you how disgusted I am with MDs and OB/GYNs. From the OB/GYN whom I trusted until, at age 45 and following my divorce, he told me to have a complete hysterectomy because my uterus served no other function than to hold a developing baby... to the numerous MDs and OB/GYNs whom I have visited since who have NOT addressed my specific requests or issues!!!!
After I ran as fast as I could from that first OB/GYN... I could not believe it... this guy had been my OB/GYN for 10 years. I had asked him to do a complete hormone panel so that I could get baseline data, because I thought that I might need this information for future supplemental hormones during or following menopause. He refused! I trusted him and when he said to have a hysterectomy... basically get neutered... I was devastated. I refused to believe him... realizing that having a orgasm, for me, included huge contractions of my uterus! How could removing my uterus be a good thing? He was totally insensitive. I left him in the dust, my uterus intact!!!
I did find a young female OB/GYN in Idaho who humored me and did the panel. I still do have that information in my personal home files. However, I no longer live in Idaho and I cannot find a doctor here to take me seriously.
My new husband (been married 8 years), and I have always had great sex! Totally off the charts good! We have always shared with each other and enjoyed this activity to the max. My last period was at age 55. Over the 5 years since that last period my genital area has changed significantly. "Shrinkage" is the word that comes to mind. My clitoris has now, at age 60, shrunk to the point of being almost non-existent. Almost no sensation remains. OTC KY warming gel, which used to get "hot" and really increase the sensation and fuel the orgasm... Now I feel nothing... just slippery. Orgasms, whether with my husband or on my own, are almost non-existent.
So now, with this development in my post-menopausal state, I have shared the information regarding the lack of sensation in my genital area with my husband, but he thinks it is simply a matter of more foreplay. Well, yes... but after an hour of rubbing and carressing..... and no orgasm? About the only way I have been able to rev myself up is to watch hardcore porn for an hour or more! Even then the orgasm I have is so weak as to be almost unnoticeable. I used to call those kind of orgasms, "warm ups" to the real ones that would come on as we continued our love-making.
I have been to five MDs and OB/GYNs who will do nothing!!! One thought I needed counseling. I went to an ND... still no help.
Yes, I have read Suzanne Sommers' books. But getting help in this area of the country (rural Vermont) is a joke... a very bad joke!
I am angry at the medical community for being so insensitive. One day these MDs and OB/GYNs will be in the same boat and then they will realize what jerks they have been. Meanwhile, I find myself still searching for some help in this area.View Thread
