I am 18 years old and i've had migrains since i was 11. I have suffered ggreatly with them for...well, i guess my entire gradeschool and highschool times. I graduated this year and it seems as if they are the same but i figured i would share with you all what i do in order to make my migrains feel the slightest bit better.
1. I saw a neuologist to make sure it was not anything life threatening 2. Once you feel the slightest bit of pain in your head TAKE SOMETHING (I take 2 Excederin Migrain pills, They have acctually prevented eventual migraines, also they contain caffiene which is a plus) 3. If the over the counter drugs do not work, take your prescribed medicine (I have 100Mg Imitrex) They seem to relax your muscles and allow you to maybe fall asleep. 4.After you take the migraine medicine, lay down in a dark room with an ICE PACK. I bought about 10 different kinds to stick in the freezer. They honestly block out A LOT of the pain. 5. If the migraine doesnt get any better after this and you begin to vomit or become nausiated, im not sure exactly what you could do. I have thrown up with multiple migraines, and i've gotten so dehydrated with them i've been in the ER. 6. The ER may be the last option due to dehydration or helplessness. They will give you pain medicine through an IV and also fluids to hydrate you. It actually works, but the bill later on sucks.
- I have heard accupuncture (IDK how to spell that) will releive stress and help prevent migraines or headaches, but i havent tried it... -Also maybe if you get bad headaches often maybe you are lacking a vitamen or even caffien? I sometimes will find myself getting a migraine and then drink a Coke or anything with a LOT of Caffiene in it, and it kind of helps and it also helps with the nausiated feeling (BUT DONT GO DRINK A CRAZY ENERGY DRINK) that would probably make you feel worse.
