Hi folks. I too have been suffering from the same pressure type headaches caused by sneezing, coughing, laughing and bending as well as bowel straining. I have been a lifetime subscriber to chiropractic care. I think this might be where all my problems started and am wondering how many people who have posted/replied here have also been long time chiropractic users. Mine started almost two yeas ago when I was hanging an owl box way up in a tree. The ladder slipped a bit and I grabbed onto the tree really hard to stabilize myself. I felt a slight tear/crack in my right shoulder. So, as usual I went to my chiropractor to have it fixed. Now this chiropractor has always been what I would consider very aggressive when moving bones. Something told me that this was a pain that a chiropractor could not make go away. It only took that visit to realize it and I have not been back since. The next day are when the pressure related headaches started. I to went to a neurologist and had an MRI and an MRA, both normal. I took Amitriptylene for a few months with no relief. It sure did make me sleep better though. So I just learned to live with it until I realized how much it affected my quality of life. I have a small farm and am very active with bees and gardening. So I decided to try a different chiropractor after a year of not going to one. This guy was very very gently almost to the point where I wondered if he was effective at all. The headaches did start to get better and more infrequent. Until recently. Something he said made sense about the strength of the muscles in my back being weak, I am 50 this month. I dusted off the bowflex in my basement and started some very light duty shoulder and back exercises with just 20 pound rods to ease into it. The morning after the second workout I awoke with what I would classify as a very scary pain going from my right shoulder blade up to my right temple. I tolerated it for a week until my wife convinced me to call the neurologist. The day after I called, that morning, I woke up and it was completely gone. I woke up at 2 am to go to the bathroom and the pain was there at 6am it was gone. It lasted 8 days. I am still trying to get into the neurologist but now after reading all these post am wondering if it would be a waste of my time. I think I am going to try a few of the suggestions posted here and begin with the bowflex exercises again to strengthen my back and shoulder muscles. I used to really enjoy sneezing. Being an avid wood worker with this condition sucks. I too was also going to do the acupuncture route and still might. So again I wonder how many think the condition might have been brought on by an overly aggressive chiropractor. Another thing I have not tried is bee sting therapy. My wife is a migraine sufferer and when she gets one I would go out to the hive, get a bee and sting her on the back of the neck below the base of the skull. She has had very favorable results with this therapy.View Thread
