Hello, my names Jeff. My wife is 33, and ever since she turned 30 she's had grand mal seizures that are typically induced by migraines. Her neurologist calls them "Big Events" because they aren't technically seizures, but they appear to be. She's been on Depakote, and Topamax (at different times) and neither has put an end to the migraines. Recently she hasn't had any "big events" but these migraines persist. At least 1 debilitating migraine per week, usually lasting 2-3 days. She doesn't usually get nauseas from them, but for most cases she is non-functional. I feel awful for her, and try to do all I can to help, but I'm no doctor. I don't believe the doctors that she's seen even care about her well being, and we're both becoming very frustrated over this. They just toss a medication at her "call me in the morning" style, and send her packing. I believe there is an underlying problem causing these migraines but it appears the doctors are uneducated in these matters. Even top neurologists in our area.
Has anyone had these symptoms? If so, how have you treated them? What works, if anything? Any information will help.
