Baby Boy born 9/8/10! 4 pounds 13 ounces
I can't speak for the herbs, but I know that everything on the market that is supposed to help gassy and/or babies with colic did not work for us. In fact, nothing did. There were days that I had to hold him while he slept and he would wake up screaming for no apparent reason. The only thing that made it go away with us was time. Also, because he was small at birth maybe his systems are underdeveloped and are taking longer to regulate themselves. My baby stopped growing in utero and was only 4.5 pounds. I think this may have contributed to his colic.View Thread

I had thrush also (yeast) on my nipples and found that it is best to treat both mom and baby at the same time because it can be passed to one or the other if you are not both being treated. I am not sure about the yeast or your eating on time causing him gas, but some babies are just gasier than others. Sometimes it just takes time for the baby to be less affected by tummy troubles...my son had bad gas and colic no matter what I ate and no matter if it was formula or breastmilk. We tried bouncing, using a wrap, gripe water, gas drops, pressure on tummy with forearm...nothing helped consistently, but they seemed to help somewhat.View Thread

Its pretty common for little babies to to have gas. My baby had really bad colic and was on meds for reflux, although they didnt help, so I think it was just colic. I second the gripe water...if I gave it to him soon enough it sometimes helped. Also try moving his legs in a bicycling motion that can help some of the gas get out. Also laying him with his stomach on my forearm helped because it put pressure on his stomach where the gas was. Eventually he will grow out of it, hopefully sooner rather than later

I think the recommendation is up to 24 ounces a day after one year old. I give DS 4 bottles a day (one next week) and he will drink anywhere from 5-7 ounces each time. I am not too concerned about tracking it exactly because he he eats pretty well and a good amount. I think what you are doing sounds great...I have always found that my baby lets me know what he needs.View Thread

Baby Boy born 9/8/10! 4 pounds 13 ounces
My son will be 1 next week (cant believe it!) and today I tried to see how he would do with his milk in a sippy and not a bottle. It didnt go very well, he only took a couple sips and then would refuse to drink anymore. I kept trying for about an hour and he drank less than an ounce total. When I gave in and gave it to him in a bottle he drank the whole thing. I know its not the sippy because he loves drinking water out of it. I tried two different cups and he didnt want either one. Im sure its just because he is used to his milk in a bottle. Are there any ways to make this easier, I wouldnt want to wait all day until he finally gets starving and drinks from the cup, I think he is a little young for that. Or is it even that important to switch to the cup now?View Thread

I breastfed/pumped up until a couple weeks ago, but we were down to one feeding a day for the last couple months of that. I got my first period 8 months PP and since then have had 2 more, baby will be one year old next week
. So that means I have missed a few, and I even had PMS symptoms for about 2 weeks before this last period, I thought for sure I was pregnant. I think being irregular for some time after pregnancy can be normal, but I am not sure the range.View Thread

I have had 2 periods since I had my son, he is almost one year old. I breastfed part-time up until a week ago and have been only nursing once a day for a couple months...I have had lots of cramping for a few weeks and I swear any day I will get my period, but nothing! Its frustrating but I think pretty normal.View Thread
