Hi My son, Phoenix, is almost 4 and a half months old and he is breastfed. He has always had revoltingly smelly farts. I mentioned it to our pediatrician at the 6 week check up and asked what caused it - thinking it must be something I was eating. He said that some babies have smelly farts and some don't. He said something about bacteria getting to the 'food' that remains undigested. Obviously the less frequently they poo then the more opportunity for the bacteria to create the smell. Once the gas builds up it has to be released so nothing to worry about. Not sure if this is right but it makes sense. Hope this helps!
my midwife told me to give alannah cool boiled water as it would help soften her poo. she said if that failed put a t spoon of fresh orange in some water and try that. The cooled water worked 4 us so mabey give that a go. good luckView Thread
I'm in the same boat as you and just a few things I have learned... embrace this time, its hard work in the beginning when you find out that you are expecting but just remember you are doing it for your little one, talking about the nursery, the doctor appointments, and just getting the house ready. Something that goes without saying is give your wife what she needs... and that is support. Without you she would probably be a wreck.
