I am not sure if you remember how many times the boards would go down, but it was the old boards degrading with no way to fix it. So we went and found something that would benefit the members, and keep the boards online all the time with very little down time.
There simply wasn't the ability to show members the exchanges before we launched them, no other free site would be able to do that either. I am very sorry that you are upset, but please know we have put many posts on the previous boards, multiple times talking about the changes. This wasn't just a surprise to the members. If you gave everything a chance I think you'd find more things that you liked. Finding your friends is difficult I understand, but soon you'll find them and then settle in nicely.
I am sorry no we can't change it back to the way it was. You might try just clicking on the discussions link on the left hand side, that will show you just discussions on the board. The thread layout in that link is more like what we use to have on our old boards, that might make the transition a bit easier for you.
Actually Scperdomo, it was necessary, our old boards were degrading fast and we were experiencing more and more problems every day. There was no fix to it, it was just the design to it. This environment is to be much more stable to keep your boards available to you all the time.
With these new boards we can offer more experts to answer our members questions, we can offer the ability to post pictures up and for members to make links active so their board friends can just click and go.
Making your own exchanges is also a plus. One thing you may or may not want to do is start a month by month parenting exchange, my daughter was born January 2010, so for example I could start a parenting exchange titled January 2010 babies, and mom's with January babies could come together to talk about the many things our January babies struggle with and are doing those sorts of things. I think as soon as everyone gets use to everything you will start to see the good parts of the new environment.
